Exactly. Can't afford to bowl with the soft spongy pink ball under lights to Smith. He will destroy us.

I think your brain work/ thinking in typing this post is more than what Bewda and Kaptaan could process for gthe whole tour. Simple logic selections they cannot make and here you are plotting and planning how to bowl with new ball under lights Gollum 1

This is the most ideal situation. But will bewda and gang realize this? Tridibans_16 1
Real McCoy Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 OP is dreaming Smith batting will be a wakeup call

Majestic Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 (edited) Our best chance is to bowl with new ball under lights. We need to bat 50 overs tomorrow and then we will be in a better position as we will be able to utilise the new ball under lights. But this will not happen. The reality will be:- We will be all out at 270 and that means we will take the new bowl tomorrow morning and second new bowl can only be available after 80 overs, I.e. on Day 3 early morning. Australia will bat brilliantly as there is not much deamons in the wicket and post 400. On Day 3 after two sessions, we will finally start our second inning with a trail of 130 runs and Aussies will be bowling under lights with the new bowl. By the end of Day 3, we will be 91-5 and probably get all out at about 150-160 and Aussies will do the rest formality. We have already lost this match unless we bat 1.5-2 sessions tomorrow. zen Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 (edited) I won't be surprised if the pitch goes through metamorphosis, turning batting friendly when Aus is in Edited December 17, 2020 by zen

Look at the stature of the guy, one man is keeping all Indian fans in fear. I just saw the highlights, the wicket looks flat with good bounce, Ashwin has to take wickets for India to remain in the game.

Lot of the fuss has been made about new ball.. In reality Warne pointed out that Pink ball didn't deteriorate as badly as the red ball. The seam wasn't gone totally. If we manage to bat 20 overs in the morning session I'll be happy. Aussies will have to negotiate 5-6 tricky overs before Dinner break. If we can get their opener & labu out during that period. I reckon Australia will struggle.

We have to target the others and keep him off strike. As you said there are no demons in the pitch. Its a typical aussie flat pitch. Their bowlers bowled tightly and very well. its all upto our spinner with some support from Bumrah. Umesh may open the floodgates. Even with the phaast bowlers, Ashwin has to do the lion's share of the wickets to keep us in the game. SK_IH 1
Gollum Posted December 17, 2020 Posted December 17, 2020 (edited) 1. Get 300 and match will go to 5th day. 2. Bat for 2.5-3 hours tomorrow (don't fret too much over runs) and we might just be favorites. Very very difficult to do that, hoping for a miracle by these two. Target should be #2. If Aus even scores 300 and india gives them a target of 250 under lights and with uneven 4th day pitch and 4 left handed batsmen against Ahswin. Add to it second innings shami straight thunderbolts and bumrah disconcerting bounce i ll say we will WIN. Actually the 30 run partnership now Ash and Saha is looking crucial Australia has a solid Batting line Up and even cummins can bat..only weak bats and hazelwood and starc. We need to score 350 runs as the Pitch has no demons. we need to get at least a 75 run lead and then score at least 200 to 225 runs in second innings. Scoring 275 in 4th innings against ashwin , shammi and Bumrah ..even Umesh will be very tough. Most Important is to score 350 runs in first innings. if we score say 280, i expect Australia to even score 300 runs on this Pitch. shammi Umesh boom will have a tuf time as Pitch looks kinda lil flat for Pacers. i see Ashwin may get some turn and he may get a fifer too. lyon was turning the ball a lot , our batsman played him very well.

Yeah matter of 30 runs. 280 is great but 310/315 india will dicate terms .. remember 4 th innings always has a premium of 50 runs extra due to pressure
