I believe things need to be looked into to the perspective that glass is half full rather than half empty.

 

Both innings 70+ opening partnership in SENA country is rare by Indian Team, Gill and Sharma partnership is a big improvement compared to what have seen in the past.

 

Minus Rohit's dismissal he looked pretty good considering he had no match practice leading to this test match.

It shud also be looked as a pattern that he is unable to convert his starts overseas which he is also not consistent with

 

NZ- 70 didnt convert

Aus- 3 -50s didnt comvert a single one

SA- one 47 didnt convert

ENG- Nothing 

SL- had one 50 didnt convert 

WI- Had 44 i think didnt convert 

 

 

This is why Rohit has struggled overseas in test

What use is looking good when he's 34? If he was 24, we can say he'll improve in future, Rohit is already past that phase, he has to start delivering now for all the faith TM has put in him

I agree he needs to start scoring hundreds away from home but just in context of this series he and Gill are an upgrade on the opening partnership tried previously.

 

Rohit has had a decent Test Match considering the backdrop Quarantine, Fitness issues.

 

Rohit will get to play England away series this year, if he fails he could be phased out.

 

However, compared to all Indian Batsmen in his age range he looks in his peak.

 

100 are not everything.

 

Case in point, KL Rahul has 2 hundreds in SENA but that does not mean he better than Rohit in SENA. Similar case with Dhawan.

 

Rather have a consistent batsmen than once in blue moon type of Batsmen.

 

Will not be surprised if Rohit does well at Brisbane.

in this case or any case his story has been same scores after 7-8 innings and then doesnt convert how else u explain his overseas avg

its test as main batsman u need to scopre 100 and even more , he aint a rookie that we can make do with 50

Rahul also has 100s in WI and SL, Rohit has none so no way Rohit even comes close to KL in test
