Ind basically relies on Pujara (consistent holding an end up) and Gill (in form) .... others appear to be good for 20-30s (and one big inning in a series)

pujara hasn't been consistent since last aussie tour. But still his innings today would have looked better if rahane and vihari managed to cash in on other end

I do not see issues w/ Pujara's inning esp. when only 2 batsmen reached a score of 50 or more

If , as a top order batsman , U score 50 off 200 balls on this type of flat wicket and then get out cheaply,   Ur team will lose 9 out of 10 times.   Getting to 50 is no big deal, Converting it to 100 is the real deal.  This is what rahane did last test, and we won.

When you Play tuk tuk then bowlers get right length which cost wicket ,if you attack then their line& length is chance where you can cash it

You need greater ability to attack these bowlers consistently. Who has that in our lineup? Nobody is steve smith, labuschagne level good in our lineup

If Pujara scored a zero, Ind could have been bundled out of less than 200 .... and everyone knows he won us a series for the first time in Aus by doing what he does best

Not quite. Pujara came to bat in 27th over.. and both rohit and gill were looking comfortable until then. We can't argue the usual he saw through the tough time. He saw through the middle overs and got out when the new ball was intoduced again

I don't think pujara would hv got dismissed on this flat surface even if he had attacked a bit.  Smith and Labu are comfortably doing it from ball 1 and still did not get dismissed. (In both innings)

The issue is inability of 9 out of 11 players to to not help Ind bat for 4 sessions including by throwing their wkts away to loose shots

Batting slow on 2nd and 3rd day that too covering the final session (to see if the day) and the first session is a part of test cricket

yeah I already said that rahane and vihari's innings make pujara's one look even worse.

But still Pujara scored his slowest 50 here.. do you really think this was the toughest pitch he batted on to score slowest 50? I think he felt pressure of not scoring runs in first two matches and decided to go into shell(more than usual seeing through tough overs bit) here

There is no issue with Pujara when a team can’t bat 4 sessions with none of the 9 out of 11 players not getting a 50 and many throwing their wkts away or displaying a lack of presence of mind .... If Pujara is an issue, I would rather take that - a guy putting a price on his wkt and playing proper test match cricket than most of the other guys

U do hv a point here.     However, the point u probably missed is that batting ultra defensively for such a long duration on a flat deck actually boosts the morale of the bowling team and they will eventually get the better of U.     I don't blame pujara alone. Rohit and Rahane are also to be blamed equally.     Regarding Vihari, the less said, the better.

It is not about the pitch being tough or easy but a team needing  to bat 4 sessions (test match is about playing sessions) .... Time is not an issue here

The issue with Ind is that its batsmen are highly inconsistent outside of Ind. There was a test at MCG where Sehwag hit 195 but the rest collapsed  .... At least Pujara puts a price on his wkt and plays tests as it should be played. Even today he was out to a good ball which bounced more than he expected. So credit to the bowler

That appears more like a theory/ assumption (Note that there is no RRR pressure in tests. Challenges are related to survival and playing sessions. To take bowlers on on a consistent basis, you have to be in good form too) .... Many players got out playing reckless shots and/or displaying no presence of mind whatsoever .... rather than focusing on playing session by session (which only Pujara was doing). In tests, teams do not mind giving 100 runs a session to pick up 2-4 wkts

Pujara has been playing test cricket for almost a decade.   This is his 3rd tour of Australia, if I m not wrong.  (Even smith and labu are not that much experienced).  Despite all his experience, if this is the way he is going to bat, then,.  Well I hv nothing much to say.   To each, his own.

I think Pujara should be dropped for Eng series..  He is not getting any younger.  Vihari is also done.   Give home series to a guy like KL or any other deserving player.

Pujara will make sure we will lose on Eng tour this year as well.  Stroke less wonder don't work in this day n age..  Unless you are batting on ultra fast Indian outfields.

Pujara Rahane & Vihari are the culprits of today.

Momentum is not just a theory, playing dead slow on good surface gives more confidence to the bowlers and fielders. Aussie batsmen played in the same way in last match and lost

Retards calling for Pujara's head, when tubster Rohit Sharma with a decade of international cricket still not good enough for Tests. The irony is many said they would be content with tubster getting 20 odd, I mean wtf, that's where Indian cricket continues to be mediocre.

Rahane and Pujara saw off a tough phase, Rahane got unlucky when he started ticking, Pujara after a 100 balls picked up his strike rate just over 50, but Vihari sucked out momentum, and Pant's bravado of not wearing elbow protection killed off his attacking innings. And then the usual meek Indian tail folded.

Fault lies with Ranji cricket, quality batsmen required for Tests not coming through.

And, Pujara is Pujara, who are you going to replace him with? Is there anyone in India bar Kohli who can survive 100 balls on bouncy wickets?
