Why does subcontinent always produce these type of slow, boring pitches ?

So test rejects like Rohit Sharma can make merry on these flat decks before he becomes a joke once again in next tour to SENA

Anyways rubbish pitch hopefully starts crumbling from day 3.

Because Joffra Archer scares the sh*t out of Indian batsmen because if his IPL exploits.

Archer hasn't been that consistent in test matches. Average of 31 and SR of 63 means he is not a strike bowler yet in this format.

I don't think Indian batsmen are scared of Archer in test matches.

Anderson is the biggest threat ... because he knows how to take wickets nowadays.

Kohli would rather forgo his trump card pacemen and hope for spinners to shine than risk Archer running through top order , especially first test ..... It's his mentality he doesn't trust any of his players ever always thinking worst scenario

This maybe true. Kohli has trust issues regarding his team mates' abilities.

Although a seamer friendly pitch would have meant Bumrah having a huge chance of running through the England line up too.

Root is in the form of his life. Good luck trying to get him out on this pitch. He will bat India bat out of the test match before India's batsmen even get started.

As if I care if they can't get Root out , I hope he gets 300

Exactly my point Kohli chose to be fearful rather than be positive .

Cricket is played in the head and it's didn't matter about tests they are mentally thinking about what Archer has done on Indian pitches

I don't think it is a " they ".

We saw how positive Rahane and his young brigade were in Australia.

Young Indians like Bumrah, Gill, Pant, Hardik, Sundar, Shami, Jaddu. Siraj etc. are fearless. And Ashwin and Pujara are tough fighters.

Interestingly, Kohli the batsman, is fearless too. But Kohli, the captain, is very different.

I would just say Kohli's negativity rubs off on the others , I have played with captains who played the game in his head three days before and didn't deviate from that on the park no matter what was unfolding Infront of his eyes .  In a situation like this is where you need player power and a set of b*lls but we both know that is never going to happen in India

It is more a commercial issue than anything specific to do with India.

Big superstars bring business and have the backing of big business houses. And derive their power from this. Happens all over the world.

Other players know this aspect and know that there is no practical way of interjecting in the issue. Not an issue of not having balls.

In the 1980s. Kapil lost his captaincy a few months after winning the World Cup. It was different then as Kapil was a cricket super star but not a commercial super star. And many players in his team expressed their displeasure against him.

Instead of concentrating on 140 + Speeds had they tried to stick to line and length at 128kph we might have had a chance.  That way ball might not even reach the batsmen so there's no chance of scoring.

Me like your profile name..verymuch :cantstop:

Where did you get that information that Kohli chose to be fearful? You think Indian batsmen fear Archer, people come up with ridiculous assumptions.

Learn the meaning of fearful ..

In this case it was meant as causing anxiety and plenty as a captain makes Kohli anxious .

Also I didn't say Indian batsmen were in fear but mentally thinking what Archer has done in the IPL .

I know the meaning of fearful very well. You bringing up Archer and his effect on Indian batsmen is ridiculous to begin with, so you are starting with wrong assumption.. Indian batsmen don't fear anybody.  Kohli is last person in world to fear or  be apprehensive of any bowler. Archer like any other English bowler will on the mind of all Indian batsmen.

Where did you get that news?

Pitch Curator 2 days before the test : The pitch will have plenty of grass cover

Pitch on match day - Totally barren without a blade of grass on it

Anyone who has followed Kohli-Shastri's whinings in the past about home pitches having grass on it (Wankhede vs SA, Rajot vs England) will know the reason why grass has been shaved off.

So what does that mean? They are fearful of opposition. They have lost one fricking home test as a tandem in five years, so they know very well how to do their jobs. They are entitiled as a coach and captain to get the pitch of their liking.

It's a good decision generally speaking at Chennai, the grass even if lush green, will not have an effect post the first session. Unless it rains of course, so if not for that the pitch will be an absolute belter for days till 3-4 for batting. Without much grass it can deteriorate, with it basically a surefire draw!

There was same kind of nonsense going on when Indians refused to travel to Gabba. They were fearful of Gabba so they are avoiding it forgetting the fact they were right to address their concerns.

Indian pitches are just fine , our fast bowlers have done well very well, odd flat pitch here and there is not big deal. They are not allowed to use saliva to get reverse swing that is also a factor.

So you are now justifying their pitch doctoring. Great. Carry on your blind cheerleading
