Kohli also helped revive the career of Ishant, enabled Shami and Umesh to ascend to new heights. Introduced Bumrah to test cricket. As a bowlers captain he has a great record, maybe even the greatest record in India test history. But yet it has to be acknowledged that he hasn’t contributed to the development of a single test batsmen.

You are crediting the fast bowling talent to kohli, any other captain would have done the same. His love story with Ishant is well known. He has been his friend for a long time and him picking Ishant even if he doesnt perform well for a long time over others is well known. Why does he give the new ball with the wind behind his back to Ishant all the time when he knows Bumrah is the best bowler in the team. Shami made his debut way back in 2012 but wasnt a consistent pick until recently. In Indian conditions, even Yadav is a better bowler than Ishant. Siraj performed well in the recent test and gets dropped this game because Ishant is available. But by his own admission, Ishant hasnt played enough cricket and has played only a few domestic t20s.

Ishant revived his own career by playing  county cricket and working with Gillespie, Bumrah was destined to be a Test bowler, look at his FC record before he played tests. Shami and Umesh were very good at home even under Dhoni, became better under Kohli (or as they gained more experience). Shami's fitness is Kohli's one achievement. But then when it came to crunch (WC SF), he preferred to go with Bhuvi over Umesh in CT Final and Bhuvi over Shami in WC SF. So much for being a fast bowler's captain.

CT was way too early in his captaincy but the 2019 WC and disasters since then without any accountability are his own doings.

Ishant's career was revived thanks to Jason Gillespie, his county coach. Shami revived his career going to his own coach and working on his fitness using Desi exercise strategy as he hates gyms. Umesh okay - no doubt Kohli favored him and he was great I'm home conditions. But Kohli is blind to his ineffectiveness abroad. Bumrah is a freak of nature and captain would take him. Kohli has picked Siraj for the wrong format for years. He has not given chances to Rahul Chahar, who can be a match winner for us. Kohli just likes finished products, which Ishant, Bumrah, Shami and Umesh happened to be.

Errr yeah. No other captain in Indian history done the same, so “any other captain would do the same” is a ridiculous statement

Funny how Indian bowlers started reviving their own careers all under Virat’s captaincy. Wonder if Virat got anything to do with it.

you need to get on with the mantra here.

any success is "despite" of Kohli. Every failure is because of Kohli. He single handedly turns world beaters to pathetic losers

This match is proof of that!

He doesn't feel his place threatened by pacers, so gives them a longer rope. Even then he has his clear likes and dislikes. With batsmen, he is unforgiving to any youngster who might threaten his place or popularity

4th consecutive loss for him. 2 in NZ, 36 all out and now in Sennai.

If we look at a WTC perspective this series is a semi-final of sorts and no wonder we started choking as usual in semis.

Has he ever given 4 back to back chances to an under performing player ever? But he has no qualms about presiding over 4 consecutive losses!
