coffee_rules Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Abysmal umpires call. He needs to be fired
Serpico Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 How can an umpire's call be 'abysmal'? If it was plumb lbw, it would have been overturned by ball tracking. Plenty of umpires made mistakes by not giving plumb LBWs, so its not exactly a rare occurrence. By the very definition, umpire's call is a 50-50 scenario.. even the technology cannot come to a definitive conclusion. How is that a firebale offence lol If anything the other guy on field should be fired. He made two very dodgy decisions one in first innings and one in second

That is definition of plumb for a left arm spinner. Umpires cannot rule that in favour of batsmen. They are some decisions which bowlers have to get benefit of doubt everytime this is one such call. As an umpire you can no way think that impact was outside on that delivery. You are clearly seeing offstump. That is just bad umpiring. Edited February 15, 2021 by putrevus

The thing is umpires have missed even plumb decisions all the time, when it happened in real time he has very little time to see his leg had straightened. This is why you have reviews, how did technology say this is umpires call is the question? this shouldn't have been umpires call. Edited February 15, 2021 by IndianRenegade putrevus 1
chewy Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 More importantly how the hell did Hawkeye show that 50/50, visually the impact is clear Is this graphic processing/algorithm error? express bowling 1

Exactly thats what we need to be more worried about. Umpires make mistakes, that is why you have technology, if the technology is making a mistake with what you can see as clear lbw in the replays then how many such lbws is hawkeye screwing up? putrevus 1
flat_wicket_bully Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Umpires call should be discarded if the distance between projection and stumps is low I they can make this change to be more accurate
IndianRenegade Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Also the original appeal in this case was for caught behind & not LBW. So how was the decision made regarding Umpires Call with regards to impact? confusing!

Because leg is not a stationery object like wickets. So there is an inherent movement algorithm included in the umpires call which benefitted Root
neel roy Posted February 15, 2021 Posted February 15, 2021 Most important question: has india lost a review as the original review was for caught behind?

kirkutfan Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 (edited) Dang, are we into extremes. Human error is part of the game. Arguments are part of the game. The umpiring panel got a lot right. They are pretty new to international umpiring too. No way is this equivalent to the stuff Bucknor pulled. Edited February 16, 2021 by kirkutfan
The Realist Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 DRS is not cutting it. Cheap tech masquerading as the only solution - the ball tracking and assumptions are way off. Umpires call makes no sense either, its a crap call then overturn it. For all the initial problems with VAR in football it is now a much better system than DRS

Your beef is with the computer Ball was heading towards the off stump, I agree for umptcall on hitting stumps, how the hell do you call on impact , the angle of the ball’s direction and where it hit the leg, in a split second? Call on impact should be banned, s/w can decide that.

helperononline Posted February 16, 2021 Posted February 16, 2021 Kohli and teams need to stop whining england had two or three decision going against them But don't see them arguing with umpires
