SK_IH
So many forthright, crisp & legitimate questions, which I am sure English fans wanted to ask England TM as well. There is no mollycoddling of the English "captain", the like we are used to in India. Sandeep99 and Vk1 2 Link to comment
dilliboy
Mike Atherton is undoubtedly the best cricket pundit on television... Articulate and informative throughout Sandeep99, SK_IH, Norman and 3 others 6 Link to comment
Sandeep99
I'm so jealous.. So forthright and great questioning and honest and straight answering. Compare it to our culture where captain doesn't even want to answer and says the question doesn't have logic Lone Wolf 1 Link to comment

Forget about media even our ex players have zero guts. That's why there is zero accountability in Indian cricket. Sandeep99, SK_IH and Sgattick10 3 Link to comment
dilliboy
Thing is the more you put cricket on a pedestal and treat Cricketers as gods, more unlikely for you to ever seriously question them on failures. Sadly this culture will only get worse in India as things are currently going.... Edited March 12, 2021 by dilliboy GoldenSun and f20143g70 2 Link to comment
neel roy
Bhogle got sacked for just uttering few bits and pieces ( which were all logical). If this interview would have been done any indian , next day it would have been his jouranalistic obituary Link to comment

To be honest, none of our ex cricketers have the level of intellect of Mike Atherton. Also, very few of them have integrity. Kumble and Dravid to name a few. When they have integrity, they get booted out of the team. Lone Wolf, f20143g70 and TheWall 3 Link to comment
sage
I think England has similar problems with their football which they put on the pedestal like we do with cricket. Link to comment

Not really. I'm just stating the facts. I've never seen our ex cricketers masquerading as analysts ever speak anything sensible laced with any deserving appreciation for the opposition. At least the English have guts to ask the right questions. Link to comment

It should just be common sense to ask these questions but how many sport journos do it? So yeah when most indian journos lack this basic common sense mike appears intelligent, it's all relative Link to comment

Always a fan of his , gutsy batsman and not afraid to speak his mind , really about only ex Indian cricketer I have time for, not a BCCI stooge . Even I as a Scotsman nearly blushed on the praise he was giving on how England were playing White ball cricket Sandeep99 1 Link to comment

goose
This is a standard interview style in the English media. There is an acceptance the interviewer is going to take a polar opposite view to the interviewee, and there is no need to take it personally. sage, Tattieboy and sarchasm 3 Link to comment
