dilliboy
In 85 matches, he is currently averaging nearly 49 with a strike of 105 with 11 hundreds. As an opener his average jumps to 53. He should be spoken in the same breath as Sharma and Warner and yet doesn't get the same recognition. Why is this the case? Link to comment

sage
he is great but unfortunately eclipsed by a superstar like Rohit with three double hundreds and can hit 16 6s in a game mishra 1 Link to comment
R!TTER
What a *ing joke, if JB is one of the GAOT openers then SRT must be "One-Above-All" in the cricketing multiverse! Pint sized boundaries, two new balls, no reverse swing, no spin, more fielding restrictions - should I add more? Vijy 1 Link to comment

The Realist
Hes good but nothing more in an era of crap bowling, flat small pitches & the rules all favourable to batting. Context is everything. Link to comment
Majestic
Definitely England's best opener. Among current generation openers, Rohit is ahead, so is Warner and QDk. Bairstow is 4th and Dhawan is 5th. Bairstow has a chance to surpass Warner and Qdk in ODIs. Edited March 26, 2021 by Majestic Link to comment
Vickydev
Lots to do with perception. Too many batting stars in England, while Australia and us have been top heavy for a while. Affects how the players and their roles are viewed. Bat through the innings and all. Also just 50 some matches as openers so his impact hasnt been felt over a prolonged period and with maybe just 1 ICC event during period, he hasnt been in that limelight that many times. Also doesnt open in T20s and that clouds judgement as these two formats are still quite fluid for an avg fan while judging players. Link to comment
Jay
Lmfao ROFL lol. Ok bud sure. When they perform on turning or seaming pitches then we can give them credit. Best flat track hacks ? Sure. Link to comment
mishra
Same reason as Jayasurya or Anwar or Afridi. Unlike biased agenda driven icfers, normal people and sports pundits can see the difference in rules. Bairstow or Roy, none of these effers will last in front of say bottlecaps or longsleeve chuckmal even on flat tracks and small boundries. PS: if new ball didn’t swing, ut reverse swung by 25th over and spun by 30th. Edited March 26, 2021 by mishra Link to comment
Vijy
it's because 50-over cricket has become a real joke. Link to comment
