Whats the option? Houses are expensive to buy in a lifetime for many in these big cities like Bombay, when they make a move, yet they are moving because the other cities are still not able to match the quality of life for many whoch they could get in a place like Bombay.

Only solution is to build the smaller cities and bring jobs to those cities which can attract them. All Indian letro cities are too crowded, it is high time to build smaller cities and invest in them.

The option "was" family planning and gender equality at personal level along with urban planning & economic growth oriented policies at govt level. We woke up too late in either respect. Let's hope our cities are more manageable a couple of decades down the line.

These studies are correlative and provide great preliminary data to develop plausible hypotheses for testing.

But, let's assume that the ACE2 mutation is proven to offer resistance.  If I am reading Chaubey's work correctly, it shows that it is less prevalent in W. India and more prevalent in N. Indians.  So:

(a) Being in Western India, Mumbai may already have been hit to peak levels because the protective mutation is not prevalent much

OR

(b) There are so many N. Indians in Mumbai that they buffered the spread and prevented a big disaster.

"Biharis and Bhayyas protect Marathi maaNoos from Covid19!!"  Tantalizing possibility for Raj Thackeray's consideration :-)
