Sachin is not old and should be in reasonable fitness, good probability for quick recovery.

Since Johnson, Trump, Bachchan etc I have wondered whether having access to the best of docs & healthcare facilities helps avoid the serious damage of covid. Are there any young/middle aged rich & powerful folks that got hit hard ?

Gwyneth Paltrow is one celeb that has suffered from long covid and she claims to have been infected in the early days.

GWS ... I would have thought he would have had access to vaccine

The very first vaccine administered in India was on Jan 16.  2nd dose 4 weeks later (Feb 15).  Full immunity Mar 15.  Unless he got it before Feb 1, he would've still been vulnerable.

Treatment options make a huge difference, which is the main reason why marginalized communities in the US have disproportionately high death rates (when adjusted for age).

I wouldn't believe a word of what Gwyneth Paltrow says.  She's probably marketing jade eggs as a covid cure.

In Canada, healthcare workers who took their 1st dose (Pfizer) in March will get their 2nd in June. So does it tell that you can avail considerable benefits from one dose too esp. for mRNA type vaccines?

Moderna:  76% after first dose.  95% after 2nd.

Pfizer:  57% and 94%.

These are trial results, probably a bit lower in real life.

Mumbai has been a sh!showing at managing Covid risk, worst City in India.

Easy to say that. Most people around the world aren’t acting any civil when it comes to covid. I am pretty sure most Indian big cities are same. Just to blame one city which is little more populated isn’t a great idea. Leniency with covid has been a common human mentality across most cities and countries now. People have had enough sitting at homes from last one year.  Look at France and Germany. They have been real shythole for covid.

Not little more, it's absurd population for its area. Because of the way it's been ripped off to enrich babus and and give livelihood to the poor, it's become unmanageable and gives the worst of experiences that one deals with in India. If there wasn't this gene that limited covid impact to Indians, Mumbai's funerals would have been packed for a long time.

Some East Asian cities show much better discipline with their experience in handling epidemics and need to be held up as an example. In Taiwan, they made a guy pay through the roof for violating guidelines. In Mumbai civic workers get beat up for Rs 200 fine.

No doubt about that. I was also referring to the likes of the experimental treatment that Trump received besides the army of best in the business specialists on standby for such people which isn't the case with commoners.

Whats the option? Houses are expensive to buy in a lifetime for many in these big cities like Bombay, when they make a move, yet they are moving because the other cities are still not able to match the quality of life for many whoch they could get in a place like Bombay.

Only solution is to build the smaller cities and bring jobs to those cities which can attract them. All Indian letro cities are too crowded, it is high time to build smaller cities and invest in them.
