Where will they get vaccines from bty floating global tender? Really perplexed. Pfizer and Moderna are impractical for India. SII is already struggling to fulfill their orders. BB is increasing it's capacity but it will take some time. Sputnik is coming to India that states can target. Janssen not approved yet.

After due process and consultations with the required medical institutions of the centre, the States have a right to float tenders. This wouldn't be the first time that such a thing has been done in India. When the rat induced plague hit Surat in the 90s some vaccines/medicines were obtained by the state govt.

So far the States have not shown any inclination to spend on the vaccines. The  vaccines for the 45+ yrs are provided for by the centre. There isn't much clarity on the timelines of the 18-44yrs vaccine. If a State is spending its own money on its subjects, I'd say more power to them. The real worry is that the state governments could try and make a quick buck out of the vaccination process, by charging a huge margin on the product. But that is when the SC will step in to the rescue. :hatsoff:

Some mistake while posting the tweet.

News is TN government floating tenders for importing vaccines for 18-45 age group.

Good luck with that. ya like they would get any vaccines. Every European country is looking for vaccines. The only one that are left are manufactured in the US.

Kumbh/Election/Protest or not, the second wave would have come along anyways in hindsight. Those events may have somewhat hastened it but its not like we were very disciplined besides these events and nor were we prepared to counter the wave.

Interesting. Medicines are fine, but never heard of vaccines getting bought on tender. Maybe the crisis and situation sets a precedent. It will be hard to get vaccines in the global market now

Russia wants to manufacture in India to meet the demand. Germany is already buying. Just floating an order doesn’t make faltupathy a thalaphathy.

Thala or not, so far, the youth CM has not done any wrong moves. Much better than expected :thumb:

Waves don’t happen overnight, there was a gradual rise of cases in Feb/Mar when the wave started

Second wave was bound to happen. Doctors warned even back in February about that.  What would have been a steady growth attained exponential growth thanks to re-opening of shops, mass gatherings. IN a 15 day period it suddenly spiked.

Better than the moronic pm who didn't even order enough vaccines for his own people.

* off sanghi

By the time Sputnik and serum institute and Bharat biotech make vaccines available to every indian citizen it'd be too *ing late.

Already there are dead bodies piling up in every state and what do the sanghis expect other state CM's to do?.

Combination of many things expedited this catastrophe. All these things were predicted. Just that government was totally unprepared. They had time to build hospitals. Set up isolation wards. Address the nation weekly and ensure people don't drop their guard. It was more about photo op, chest thumping. "Hey look we have saved the world by exporting vaccines".  Fortunately first strain was less virulent. Didn't drive a large group of people to the ICU. One could spin all they want, but blood on their hands. People literally died without oxygen outside of the hospital. True numbers are far far more. We may never know.  I see the numbers going down. But i can also sense government/people letting the guard down once again.

It is not Sudarshan news if you are hinting at that. Jaggi is right of center, but for some. Right of center is also extreme right.

One of my closest friend who is extreme far right guy so much so he even talks violent language. He mostly shares articles from this site. Pretty much all of them are garbage.

You got that right. The real numbers are way higher. Testing itself isn't done on enough people. Death numbers must be also way higher than the ones reported.
