Good bowling against a weak West Indies Lineup  which was defeated by Ireland, yes he bowled well but no need to start ogling so early.

At least, his type of bowling suits red ball more than white ball, for sure, with this evidence.

It is not just Prasidh's performance .... but the steep bounce he gets which is a missing link for us.

For a long time I have wanted our TM to combine skiddy quick pacers with bouncy quick pacers.

Just imagine the discomfort of the batters with Bumrah attacking the stumps from one end at around 90 mph and Prasidh targeting the ribs at 85 mph+. Very difficult to tackle as opposed to 2 pacers attacking the stumps ( which becomes predictable )

Believe me. Ishan porel deserves a go as well in tests. He gets natural bounce. Hell saini looked impressive on a dead pitch in SA last time. He found his groove back.

Our weakness has always been piss poor batting. Piss poor. Not just poor. But we are working things out. Combos etc. I feel it's only a matter of time. It's coming home. I feel it. Rohit is the man to do it.

he should have made his debut long time ago, another bowler like Siraj who was made to needlessly wait while we gave Lambu match after match with nothing to show for it.

It's that Aussie series win. It hurt us in nz when we picked wrong selections. Historical wins etc. Get too excited and they will continue to reward under performing players based on past glory. Game moves on quick. This is not a government or private sector job. Sport is different. Only performance matters.

Great post.

Its not just steep bounce either, its variety in our bowling attack which then combined with others makes it a lethal combination of 5 bowlers.

If you then have Prasidh with steep bounce, Bumrah with his accurate projectile yorkers, combined with two quality spinners where Sundar can be one option (then pick from Jaddu, Ash Chahal, Kuldeep etc etc), we just lack one out and out FAST bowler.

Do we have any butter chickens in India that can regularly bowl above 150kmhr?

Its not the be all and end all of bowling fast I know, but combine this with accuracy and guile and its lethal.

That's why we drew vs Aussies in Sydney.

Like morons they kept bowling bouncers constantly. We got used to it.

Starc Cummins and hazlewood. If they had one player who attacked the stumps they could have finished us in that game.

In gabba again, it was a well deserved win no doubt but they were just too predictable.

Best combo would be

Steyn - attacking the stumps and variable bounce as surprise

Morkel - pure bounce based

Philander - swing trundler

Kyle Abbott - conventional swing.

Nice combo

Same with India when we had

Bumrah - fast, attacking the stumps and variable bounce

Ishant prime - bouncy. Not as bouncy as morkel but he was hitting 138-145 for 3 4 years. He was good.

Shami - complete bowler who can do it all. Perfect seam position.

Bhuvi kumar - conventional swing.

We never once had the chance to field this quartet tbh. Could have been even better.

From being such a poor bowling side we have become a poor batting side. This helps us with more wins less draws. Either we win or lose

We have ALWAYS BEEN a poor batting side. In tests away from home. Batting cost us many times. Bowling has been good for ages since 2005 ish except between 2011-2013 period when we were in transition. For tests I.e.bowling went to another revel between. 2015-2021.

Despicable batting. We were a good batting side between 2008-2013 in odi. We had shitty batting since 2015 till now. We carried passengers in batting for years for odi.

that would be good in tests. bumrah in ODIs has become rather predictable though.

I would reserve my judgment for later, yes he gets extra bounce but I think he is too erratic in his lines and lengths.

Needs to perform against better teams.

We have Umran Malik who can be 150 k+ regularly in T20s atleast. And he is sufficiently accurate too.

Bumrah's releases the ball well past the bowling crease, and  theteby his deliveries have the effect of deliveries around 6 kph quicker according to a Cricviz report. So,, Bumrah bowling 135 k to 147 k gives the effect of a 141 k to 153 k pacer like Umran.

And this bounce variations, of our pace attack as a whole, may make Bumrah more lethal too.

And Avesh needs to be a backup for Prasidh for now. He gets good bounce too.

Bumrah barely bowls at 90 mph anymore. He is about 85-87 mph range.

90 mph is 145 kmph.

90 mph is 145 kmph.

Bumrah's yorkers are usually in the 142 kph to 146 kph range in recent times ( was even quicker earlier, upto 150 k )

That is 88 mph to 91 mph range, say averaging around 89.5 mph.

While his other deliveries are more 84 mph to 89 mph or 135 k to 143 k these days.
