To get rid of jargon and complexity and tell that its BS that once something is encrypted it cant be shared with gvmnt, if company co-operates, most likely they have some solution in some part of their organisation. It purpose is not to match individualnposters technicall standards though.

Getting rid of jargon and complexity doesn't require twisting basics and posting wrong info.

@Mariyam Think this is live demonstration of what I was talking about. This is what has become of America in general. There are no first principles for discussion. The blood feud and echo chamber is so deep rooted that they are incapable of discussing second order effects or even first order. A polarised population like this is toxic for democracy in long run. India was maybe 50 years away from this kind of polarisation but we have been fast tracked into it by social media. India cannot afford this with stage of growth we are in. Personally, the ill effects outweigh the benefits of social media. Kills agility in thought process or cognitive thinking. If the intention is to have a flourishing democracy, we need a large section of agile thinkers. Social media certainly doesn’t encourage it, as we can see the basket case that’s America.

I accepted that your unknown unstated alternative theory is technically more superior because its coming from you, But that does not convince me that i need a hacking solution when i can achieve same result with a workaround. In my opinion, Social Media is also like Democracy. If we let it to grow, then at some point it will get reformed itself. 

 

Yes in American we got the problem of Trump and Conspiracy theories. But at the end these same social media platforms became the mean of eradicating a big part of it. They fought against the conspiracy theories and finally they defeated them. The support for such conspiracy theories went downwards.

I can give a long winded reply but in absence of specifics, I cannot really do justice. I would just say two things. 
 

1) World wasnt  a dictatorship before social media. One dictatorship has certainly become the biggest super power of the century by passing the global social media. Other ones continue to rule. 
 

2) Your implication is that social media platforms are democratic. They have just unanimously banned ex president of USA without any trial while Taliban still has an official account. So, I think a refresher in democratic values is in order. 
 

So, I dare say, your arguments are not convincing. I want to be clear. If the platforms are acting as intermediaries only. I think they are useful even with an algorithm is set for conflict. However, if they are going to be editorial, then I trust India acts along the same lines as Poland, France and Germany.
