Factors favoring NZ:

- Conditions in England are similar to NZ

- Playing Tests v/s England just before WTC will help them get even more familiar to the conditions

- Kane Williamson (enough said)

Factors favoring India:

- Injury risks to NZ top players is higher since they will be playing back-to-back Tests

- Indian team will be fresh after a long break from cricket

Honestly, in my humble opinion, there is a lot going in favor of NZ. If the series was played in any other neutral country, I would have counted India as slightly favored but since it is in England and the fact that NZ is going to play Tests in England just before WTC gives NZ a massive advantage. So, reluctantly I have to say that NZ is an overwhelming favorite here despite my heart trying to urge me to say otherwise

In terms of quality indian team is ahead but cricket is a game of conditions as well. These condition suit NZ so they get past the quality difference. Also they ll be well adapted by then. It will all depend how well we bat. Also our captain has choking issues but in a 5 day test their are enough chances to make a comeback.

People are exaggerating NZ's familiarity with English conditions too much. Sure it's alien for us but it's also for them. NZ plays with Kookaburra balls not Dukes at home. A SG ball is closer to Duke's than KB is. Also NZ pitches age backwards and become better for batting unlike England where spinners routinely come into play as the game progresses. Not to mention NZ have an even worse record in Eng than us.

The only real advantage that NZ have is their 2 match series vs ENG just before the final. But we are overall a better team than NZ and will go in as favorites if only slightly.

The bookies odds also reflect the same.

In case of a draw/tie, both teams will share the title

This rule is stupid.A two year league/tourney with no clear winner seems comical

The team with most points should win in case of draw

Don't agree at all...the team onnthe lead then would start playing for a draw in that case. A final should always be a standalone event.. Else just decide who has the most points the qualification matches and be done with it

Playing for the draw isn't as easy as it seems

Other option is to have best of 3 series instead of one game.If its still draw, fair enough

Agree. Best of 3 seems like the best option.. Playing for two years to be among the top 2 teams and losing out in the final played in unfamiliar conditions in one game is harsh.. So, it has to be best of 3..

This is different from playing a final game in an ODI/T20 tour because this final is happening after a long break and the team starts in unfamiliar conditions whereas in a T20 or ODI final, the team has been playing back-to-back cricket in the same conditions without a break

Best of 3 series is fine.. Don't like the idea of a draw getting you to lift the trophy though

I have no issues with the rules, which have been laid out well in advance

Next final should happen in South Africa imo or heck even West Indies.

It's tough to predict the finalists for next cycle though.  India will make it again after beating both SA & BD away.  2nd spot is between Eng & NZ again.  Australia has all three SC teams to deal away.

India will win WTC in s.africa. indian bowling is too strong on bouncy or seaming wickets.

It's green tops we have trouble with due to lack of swing bowlers.
