Bumrah is crap. All he has economy control but no ability to pick up wickets on demand, which is an essential to a bowler. He isnt declining you're seeing his true face after statpadded on minnow nations. Go look on statsguru yourself on both formats. Hopefully humbles you that Bumrah isn't the answer....

This is factually incorrect in test matches ( and T20s too )

In tests ..

Bumrah has played 20 tests.

And 18 of those tests have been against big teams.

And he averages 25.8 against these big teams.

Averages ..

21 vs Australia

25 vs SA

27 vs England.

He averages 21 from 7 tests in Australia, which is very tough for touring pacers.

Having an overall average of 23, while playing 18 of his 20 tests against big teams, is very creditable and shows genuine wicket taking ability.

Bumrah’s role should be the enforcer and Shami should be the guy attacking with new ball. Roles need to be reversed.

Even Shami isn't a new ball bowler. We are lacking bowlers who can make use of new ball.

Stop making Siraj into something he is not, he is not better than any of three fast bowlers playing in his match as of now.Team selection was spot on nothing wrong with team selection either.

He may not be better than the three bowlers but his bowling is better suited to these conditions.

Current Siraj is probably the most complete test bowler in the squad. He has improved so much and is high on confidence after good Aus tour and good IPL showing. All three top bowlers have some flaws. Siraj doesn't. Siraj has everything. He can swing, can seam, and bowl outswing, inswing, quick bouncer, quick yorker, can up his pace when needed.

He is a good bowler in long format. I won't lable him as a champion bowler yet when he has distance to cover.

ODI/T20 - He is a champion bowler.

Bumrah is overrated in LOIs but a damn good test bowler.

True.

And Siraj's ceiling as a pacer is definitely higher than Ishant and maybe higher than Shami too.

He can be a complete pacer ... both swing as well as seam the ball at good pace while having a good yorker and a quick bouncer too.

Siraj has picked wickets in whatever level he has played in.

You neglected his record against the World Test Champs. An avg of 47 is nothing to be happy about. and given his decline, I think we will see his avgs against Oz and Eng dip as well. Not much point in putting SA in the list - they are so weak that they got steamrolled by Lankans in their own backyard.

You have to check the context of my post.

I was replying to the incorrect assumption that Bumrah does well only against minnows.

I pointed out the numerous instances when he had done well against big teams.

When Bumrah toured SA in January 2018, they had a strong team and batting with top batters like ABDV and Amla. And deKock and Elgar were at their peak.

it was good but not great. not the peak lineup of smith, kallis, abdv, and co. I agree it's better than the current team of course.

My point is that SA of January 2018 was not a minnow team.

good thing for bumrah is that henceforth he has to confront only 2-3 non-minnow teams. NZ and Oz, and maybe Eng. if he plays more against lankans, WI, and so o, he can bring down that avg further.

Bumrah has been awesome for us.Its not right to question his past performances

But he is lacking the swing he used to get

Maybe its injury or he has a slight change in action,I dont know

We want Bumrah to do well against bigger teams, don't we ?

Bumrah used to average around 24 against the bigger teams before the WTC Final.

We want him to reach there again.

P S -- Against Australia in 2020-21, 7 or 8 catches were dropped off his bowling in the test series. Even if 3 of them were taken, he would have averaged around 23 in that series, which is good.

That really smashed Australia 3-1 Nd won away as well. That team with abd had south Africa's best bowling in a long time. It was a good side. Would smash current paper champs n.z
