Extreme limits of extra-ordinary underachievers and overachievers - how a 5 mil population country where cricket is the 3rd or 4th popular sport keeps shafting us in every major tournament

As fans ,the least we can do is to stop purchasing the brands endorsed by these overrated cricketers.  As much as we can.

What I dont understand and amazed at the low iq of indians who feel they can make their decision making to buy a product based on an endorsement of a cricketer or an actor. Hero worshipping culture in India needs to stop

I mean why do I as a consumer need advise from Kohli to purchase a tyre or an insurance policy.. personal research and reviews gaye * marane

So how can the govt insure a corrupt free system? When corruption is in India's DNA? When the govt is corrupt, a fish rots from the top.

Like I said I used to be one of these Indians who would beat their chest about how wonderful, awesome, amazing, beautiful India was,, then I decided to travel, and never looked back to India. Love Australia, love the people, the culture, the laid back attitude, you can actually see your tax dollars at work in Australia, glad I call Australia home now, of course I will love India, I was born there but other than that don't see myself wanting to go back.

I was talking about the 'ideal state'- when corruption is rife and the population dont have any civic sense along with false bravado then there is not much you can do. We will be perineal 1 medal wonders at Olympics with an odd tournament win in cricket.

As a country we are bad in almost every aspect of life:

- Education ( No i dont count IIT/IIMs as part of the world elite as they propagate rote learning and stifle creativity)

- Inventions and brand names worthy of export

- technology advancement

- Sport

Wrong comparison.

If India wins FIFA world cup hypothetically..  Nation would explode.  There will be road shows & endless coverage on Int'l media & Indian media would go bonkers as well..  Including hyper padosis.

More apt comparison is India winning hockey world cup & nobody in the country cares too much.  Although beating teams like Australia Netherlands in World cups is a big deal.

I will let you in on what would happen in Australia if they won the World Cup of Cricket, celebrate it for a few days and then it will be like as if it never happened. In India, winning the WC in 2011, would have been celebrated for months.

Thats the difference between Australia and India.

There is some good in India, but that is quickly disappearing, education is important very important but unfortunately in India there are no quality education institutes, no skilled teachers, rote learning, no practical learning, no critical thinking.

Australia for example kids are thought to think outside the box, to question their teachers and elders, that's why in the West you don't have people calling older people uncle and aunty when they don't know them.

India will never change, I want India to change more than anything, India should be punching in line with it's weight but instead India is not even punching at all.

If ONLY, Indians would actively NOT BUY products endorsed by Kohli, maybe things would change.

I would argue that educated kids in India are indeed "smarter" than Australian kids up to a certain age, in terms of maths and science. Easily.

However, overall kids in Australia are leaps and bounds ahead of Indian kids, in terms of having an understanding of the universe we live in and daily life, be it street smarts or outside the box thinking.

Coz that's not their main sport.  But it is India's.  I doubt anybody in Australia care that much about their WC win in 2015. They do care about Ashes a lot.  It's a summer sport Nothing too much.

Also Australia is one of the most sporty nation on the planet. They have most rugby league world cups...  Hockey world cups as well.  They are just on another level altogether.  Last country to compare India with.

Financial condition of the two nations also plays a role.

How many kids do you know in Australia and how many in India? Think and then post.

Youre missing the point I am making. In India there is just too much support for the Indian cricket team, India needs to learn as a country to follow, support and play other sports at the same level as cricket.

When Australia won the WC in 2015, it hardly mattered. Our footy season had already begun, it really was hardly any celebrations.

Yes Ashes is big and its been like that for years. I think one of the reasons also, is because Ashes is played during prime time in Australia when they play in England.

He's not wrong to call spade a spade- I live in the UK and its the same here.

Very shallow captain obvious who hides behind some adopted immigrated country lol. His understanding sounded so rudimentary I found it amusing. There are 30 million Indian diaspora all over the world probably more naturalised citizens, does not mean you get to claim some other nation as your acheivement. People who are born in that system get to do that, generation that was born in India have India as their legacy hehe.. All the garage dumping paan chewing shitting in the rail tracks that's your legacy and mine.

Your general narrative and societal overview has nothing to do with what happens on the cricket field.

Didn't a second string India thump the Aussies in their own den coming off a 36 a.o. Indian society was beset with the same set of issues back in January as it is now. Didn't stop the team from winning the series.

If you must compare, a good metric would be $ spent per budding cricketer in NZ vs India by their respective clubs/state associations. Don't think Indian cricketers would fare too well. Most have to fend for themselves financially in their formative years. The NZers don't. Things are changing with a lot of money being pumped into cricket and scouts training kids early on.

I remember reading that Sachin used to take a public bus to go to Shivaji park for daily practice and used to get down 2 kms away coz he needed the money for his return fare and his mid day meal.

While not an ideal situation, it has been an important part of character building.

His understanding level is so shallow you are talking logic with him. He iz livings in straliaa.. He iz wannabe white guy almost white, pays good monies to be in white only locality acts up if he seez brown skin near by.. Lulz..

Agreed nothing would make me more happy if India invests in other sports.  Talent hunts,  open sports institutions & cricket should only get few percentage of revenue that we generate.  We anyways not winning ICC trophies..  So screw cricket.

Our whole sports culture needs to change to make things happen.

I agree kids in India between a certain age are way ahead of Aussie kids, and Western kids in general when he comes to maths, and science, and I am speaking as a father of 2 daughters.

But Indian kids when they get older have no idea how to be independent, think critically etc, this comes down to education and practical skills.

I have had a couple of Indian students staying at our place, they had just arrived in Australia for studies and I let them stay with us until they found their feet. Now I have done this with a lot of students from other countries who have stayed with us.

These Indian kids had no idea, they expected my wife and myself to clean their dishes, cook for  them, clean their rooms, which was always in a filthy state, they always complained Australia is this and that, it's so expensive blah, blah.

Not saying all Indians kids are like that, but it got so bad we had to kick them out. And this happens because in India they have someone always taking care of them, they have a maid, or their mom and dad, they are always mollycoddled always someone there to clean up their mess. And that attitude does not fly in Western countries, where at 15 kids get a job at McDonalds etc and they learn how to be independent and self-sufficient.

I know my young cousins in India would never survive if they didn't have someone taking care of them all the time.

Another massive problem in India is the sex selection, when our family found out our fist child was a girl they tried putting pressure on her to get rid of the baby, and it got worse when we had our second daughter. We have cut off most of our family because of that, and we are glad we did, this attitude needs to change in India.

Don't even think any Aussies know that Australia won the WC 2015, most have forgotten about it by now.

Born and bred here, yes I do.  I follow AFL more than cricket, but I do enjoy the fact that cricket is played all year round, esp also that India tend to play tournaments or series at the conclusion of the AFL season.
