we are good in a lot of sports w/o being the best. circa 2000s indian cricket team. like no 5-6 in loads of sports. need to push that to the next level this decade.

Even in Badminton singles we have 3 players among top 25 ranked players. 24 ranked player Lakshya Sen is just 19 yrs of age.

Nervy first hole but a confident par in the end for Aditi Ashok. Good stuff.

Whole of India woke up before dawn on a weekend to follow women's golf. Win or lose, Aditi has already left a mark on Indian sports.

Here are some basic good enough to watch a match and enjoy 

 

- 18 holes to make throughout the day

- each hole has a "par" level assigned/estimated. So the 1st hole could be par-3 meaning it could be made in 3 shots, 2nd hole could be par-5 meaning it could be made in 5 shots

- if you make par-3 hole in 2 shots, thats called a "birdie"

- if you make par-5 hole in 6 shots thats called a "bogey"

- there are "bunkers" (sand), "water", "rough" (tall grass) areas on the course which need to avoided as much as possible.

- the more birdie's you get, the better your score

- the more bogey's you get, the worse your score

Everyone goes in groups. Players go in groups like currently Aditi, Korda and Lydia are going in one group.

 

There are total 60 players so each group goes one by one. Aditi’s group went last today since they are leaders on the board. Everyone gets to do 18 holes just that you have to clear space for each group so they can take their shot otherwise place will get crowded if all are waiting to take shot one by one. Hence they go in groups.
