Neeraj Chora s top 5 competitors  in Finals. 4 have PB better than him

Johannes Vetter

Johannes Vetter is the big favourite at the Tokyo Olympics this year and has the second biggest throw in javelin throw history. The 28-year-old is known to breach the 90m mark with great consistency and has won the gold at the 2017 World Championships and another gold at the European Throwing Cup. He settled for the bronze at the 2019 World Championships. Vetter set a new personal best of 97.76 m, only 72 centimetres shy of Jan Železný’s world record at the Kamila Skolimowska Memorial. He finished second behind Neeraj Chopra in qualifying with a throw of 85.64.

Jakub Vadlejch

Jakub Vadlejch finished second in Group B during qualification, with a throw of 84.93m. The 30-year-old set his personal best of 89.73m during the 2017 World Championships, where he won the silver medal. Vadlejch qualification throw was his season-best effort, which is way below Chopra’s effort during the qualification and the season, but the Czech star could make his mark with the sport being of fine margins.

Arshad Nadeem

Pakistan’s javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem topped Group B in the qualification round and will be one of the biggest draws during the finals on Saturday. Nadeem threw 85.16 in qualification, which is shy of his personal record and seasonal best of 86.38m. The 24-year-old won the gold medal at the South Asian Games in 2019, and will certainly be aiming to make the big step to the Olympic podium.

Vítězslav Veselý

Vítězslav Veselý is one of the only handful of players who have recorded throws better than Neeraj Chopra’ personal best on 88.07m in their careers. Veselý finished fifth in Group A and qualified for the finals with a throw of 83.04m. The 38-year-old veteran has won gold medals at the World Championships and the European Championships in a distinguished career. With Tokyo likely being his final frontier, Veselý will have an added incentive to get the extra distance and take a potential spot on the podium.

Julian Weber

Germany’s Julian Weber will also be a contender during the finals on Saturday after he threw he finished third in Group B with a throw of 84.41m in qualification. Weber has largely been overshadowed by Vetter’s exploits on the world stage, but the 26-year-old has a personal best of 88.29m, 0.22m more than Neeraj Chopra’s personal best. While that effort from Weber came way back in 2017, the German ace remains a key hurdle Neeraj Chopra has to pass if he aims to Olympic glory.

sb only vetter best though.

Even golf seemed more roller coaster ride like than T20.

it doesnt have the "accumulation" period.

it's like a 180-200 chase in t20 or 330-340 chase in odis. like it might take time but you have to maintain the run rate throughout.
