Indian youngsters/bench strength improvement watch.

No wrist slitting because Srilanka have played out of their skins in the last 2 games so they deserve the credit. Could have won the series.

 

However what is sad to see is no real improvement in some of the players who have had known issues 

 

Shaw: after all the trolling on SM still looks out of shape and can’t field 

 

Krunal Pandya: can’t play short ball delivered over 120 clicks and no dimension to his bowling, dart, fast dart and faster dart seems to be his mantra

 

Hardik: when will he becomes mr.dependable. Can’t finish his bowling  quota and can’t bat before over no. 40

 

Samson: same old same old, looks a world beater till he gets to 20-30, another DK?

 

Kishen: needs to play long knocks in long formats. Quick fire 50 may not be the need of the hour in every situation.

 

Sky: looked like a million bucks and got a good delivery in both games but still had opportunities to bat big.

 

Deepak Chahar: big teams will be the litmus test

 

Kuldeep: continued misery.

 

Rahul Chahar: looks like he belongs but same as his cousin. Improvement from here means he will be in a different league.

 

Saini: no visible improvement in skills.

 

Not including Pandey,Dhawan,Y.Chahal,Bhuvi as they are seniors.

 

Sakariya,Rana and Gowtham should not even be discussed.

Shaw- Extremely gifted but has technical flaws. Still untested vs top teams and top attacks.

 

Kishan - Impressive in parts. Better T20 prospect than ODIs.

 

Samson- Same thing. Looks a better T20 prospect than ODIs. I think he has improved after getting captaincy of RR but I feel he is slightly behind others in competition because of his batting spot too.

 

SKY- Extremely talented again. But plays a lot of risky shots, need to be more calculative, improve his defensive game for long-term ODI run. He should still do well in a strong lineup of Rohit and Kohli where his 60(45) will be very effective as he will come to bat around 30th over instead of 20th.

 

Deepak Chahar- Good prospect for LOIs, rate him highly now. Will find it harder in the team which will have Bhuvi already playing.

 

Rahul Chahar- Looks good but sample is too low for him. I have my fingers crossed as far as spinners are concerned.

 

Pandey - mediocre, career over.

 

Dhawan - Shouldn't be considered for World T20s at all, good for ODIs.

 

Pandya - good player in terms of skills but doesn't have mentality of an elite all-rounder.

If we analyse minutely , the reason for okayish show by our young batsmen is due to SL spinners & not other bowlers .

Hasaranga & Akhila - These are better spinners and cannot attack them every ball. 

Even success in T20  series will depend on how well they can play these spinners . Its better to get 4-5 singles and an odd four when they are bowling well and target other bowlers to win matches.

Shaw's innings are losing steam after powerplay. good in clearing the circle but not fit for longer innings yet. Wish they tested Padikkal

 

Sky should be regular in odi team, a welcome addition to the middle order

Why can't these so called youngsters field and run?

 

The fitness levels look abysmal, catching atrocious and ground fielding would make Grandpas Patel & Nehra blush (shepherding the balls to the boundary in 2021).

Sakaria n krunal are both being played in wrong formats. Keep them till t20s. 

 

Rest all fine - i just look how they are batting or bowling rather to much results in sample. Sooner or later results show. Most of them just batted for 2 games , u cnt judge someone in 2 games.

 

U need to look at slight adjusments

 

Shaw - his batting has improved, he isnt bringing the bat down like he was making a scoop when he lost his form so thats an improvement. 

 

Rest building innings comes with time. These are ur best options , invest rather then cribbing. Even ur many previous top players didnt enter as perfect players. All had their share of problems. A year so back ppl had all soughts problem with pant also

.my two cents with regards to evaluating the performance of players in the third odi and few comments about their game....

finds or Successes-

 

Rahul CHahar is a better player than Kuldeep and chahal as He bowls , bats and probably even fields better than both. he even scored some runs.

 

 

failure of some batsman in 3rd odi-

 

• Manish Pandey.....scored 11, this was his third innings n he was supposed to score a 50 at least. He should be DROPPED.
• Surya, prithivi and samson scored 40, 49 and 46...when they were playing well , they lost their wickets but yes, all the three proved that they are Superb batsman and need to just improve their temparement. 
• Hardik's batting has gone bad..forgotten how to play spinners. his pace bowling also looks erratic, looks a part time bowler. failure in all 3 odi games. shardul is improving his game n hardik going down.
• the big powerful army officers Son , i back him so much krishnappa gowtham failed big time as a batsman and didnt do too well as a spinner. He is a strong lad like me and i am sure he will bounce back well.
• dravid n gabbar had to make 4 changes n not 6..balance of bowling got disturbed.
• Saini was unimpressive. Saini and Hardik have lost it..they have the talent to play for india but currently not in form.
• dibbly dobbly125 to 129 k left arm chetan sakaria is not worth playing for india...he is not nattu...nattu is better than him. average bowler, a rubbish batsman n average fielder. i had said earlier too, better quality batsman would have hit him for 4"s n 6"s at will.

only rahul chahar was impressive among bowlers and saini bowled a few unplayable balls and later average balls. why cant he realise that he will get limited opportunities and if he cant perform , he may have to play for Delhi not India.

Let me do that

 

Dhawan : Failed in 2 out of 3 innings against this attack despite being senior and having cautious approach.Even in first game,he had no RR pressure

 

Bhuvi : No new ball wickets again. Got clobbered in death in one game.

 

Pandey : Useless.Makes Kedhar Jadhav look good.

 

Pandya : Gone AWOL again.He isnt a youngster in terms of matches experience

 

Chahal : Got the numbers but his wickets were mostly due to poor batting. Chahar looked much better and offers more in other areas

 

All in all,the youngsters were as good as seniors if not better.We won the series due to them. SKY MOTS,Prithvi and Chahar MOM.

 

If seniors haven't shown the improvement in years despite playing regularly,how fair is it to demand that from youngsters?
