Most unlikeable Indian captain in my book.

Mediocre Cricketer.

Only goal is self PR.

Right place at the right time, seems most undeserving captain.

Looks like a Gujarat quota pick.

Some of his comments are idiotic.

Money cannot buy class.

Unfair imo. He's the only seam all-rounder of any standard in the entire country.  Definitely not a quota pick.

I wonder... who knows what next gen would do if given a chance. yes, they have very little experience, but might as well as throw some of them in the deep end.

Even with a second or third tier bowling attack and a bunch of youngsters/new players, India is competing well against almost full strength sides.

With more exposure and opportunities given to a lot of players, India is discovering some highly talented cricketers.

If I am not wrong, India would also be sending different teams to Asia Cup and Asian Games.

Our spin attack wasn't 2nd/3rd tier, Kuldeep-Chahal-Axar, all were frontline spinners, even among pacers Pandu is certain to play,Arshdeep is sure starter in T20s. Which 2nd/3rd tier bowling attack you are taking about? Only Mukesh seems 3rd tier bowler.

a T20 team post 2023 ODI WC when all bowlers become available for T20s

Gill

Jaiswal

SKY

Tilak/Rinku/etc

SDP (c)

Jitesh/Samson

Tewatia/Parag/Axar/Sundar/etc (bat + bowl option)

Kuldeep

H Rana / Umran / …. (Pace bowler)

Bumrah

Siraj

So only Kuldeep = the tier 1 specialist bowler, and two ARs in SDP and Axar (who don’t bowl in every game) … 12 overs (60%) are missing from Siraj, Bumrah, and a pacer

I'm yet to see this interview of Pandu where he said stuff like this ( Can pick two more teams etc..) Did he really say that or it was just twisted by media ?

Having said that, Pandya only isn't at fault, Many ex cricketers, media and even fans started boasting about India's bench strength after that Gabba test win. Goras(KP,Naseer Hussain,Ponting) praised Indian team's bench strength and many took it seriously. That was one-off and somehow India was able to conquer Australia but India should really not conflate that victory with bench strength. It was many things falling into place for Indian team during those 5 days. India really don't have international standard players and that's reality, we might boast about IPL and all but IPL is just another domestic tournament where batting/bowling standards are medicore and they are just enhanced by the coverage it gets, Look at this Sanju Samson guy, he is freakin captain of one team in IPL and here he can't play to save his life against mediocre WI attack. Indian team management really needs to assemble core bench of 15-20 players in T20 cricket rather than boasting about this bench strength.
