Posts like these show you have absolutely no clue about cricket and people should ignore all your posts. do you have any clue how often 200 was chased on those pithces. Your beloved batsmen who get 78 all out on these pitch wouldnt cross 20 as a team

The very fact you take the double century comment out of context shows what a slimy guy you also are

I will repeat again (which you will ignore). Since 2015 we havent lost a SINGLE match where we scored 300 in the first innings. Fab 4 used to score 350+ in first innings for fun in every country. They wouldnt have lost a single match with this bowling

Huh, the same pitch where Zimbabwe team filled with 20 averaging batsman and a solitary Andy flower scored 300, also your fab 3 or 4 weren't facing Jimmy Anderson, Chris Woakes, Robinson they were facing  Streak and some bunch of nobodies.

I'm sorry that the 200 comment hit your nerve but that's quite true actually.

The fab 4 batted primarily in noughties which is known as the era of flat tracks, you don't believe me then I can show you some stats.

Not saying that the current bunch is better, but the fab 4 were overrated they lost many matches they should have won, where bowling actually delivered.

They also collapsed quite a few times remember in tour of aus 07, at Mcg they couldn't get over 200 on a pitch where Australia made 350 twice.

Couldn't hang around for 75- 80 overs  at Scg in second test and this was against a lineup of Lee, Johnson (wayward pre 2010) clarke and symonds. Lol

Don’t know how they would do against Cummins, Hazelwood and Starc.

You're hiding the info that the fab 4 came first then sehwag, gambhir, zaheer, bhajji, pathan, etc. srinath and kumble were our only spearheads in the 90s. while that worked ok at home we were found out due to guys like venky prasad, dodda ganesh, mohanty, etc. Our opening batting looked like either one of Sidhu, Ajay Jadeja, Rathore. Even VVS used to open. Sometimes azhar would send up mongia as a make shift opener. it continued with msk prasad in Aus of all places.

Regarding losing to Aus in 04, that was one of the greatest teams ever compared to WI teams of the 80s. We are facing England. I think we had enough or do you want some more

These guys played 150-200 tests. Forget winning, when likes of MCGrath bowled, these guys did zilch. How can anyone imagine them doing well vs Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood.

When Sehwag hit 195 at Melbourne, these guys still could do zilch. Murali owned them (again Sehwag hit a double). Donald owned them. Wasim, Waqar and shoo-in owned them. I recall there was this tri series final where these guys decided to tackle Wasim by attacking him but lost tons of wkts. Anderson owned them. In 2007, in the test where Sehwag hit a double v Pak, and got out cheaply in the 4th innings, these guys could not even survive the day. We not what Bond did to them. Ganguky even complained about the Nagpur pitch

Indian sports fans did not have much to celebrate so these guys provided some entertainment. That is about it. Get over these guys :orderorder:

Nostalgia always seems good, I would definitely take this team over that  noughties team, much better bowler and even though the batting lineup is old and weak it will be replenished with new guys soon and above all everyone plays for the team.

Buddy, most of the ones listed are all time Indian greats. Avgs can depend upon conditions too so if bowling avgs are up, so are the batting averages.

Forget about winning, these guys have lost Ind many games. Apart from the ones I listed, I recall Sehwag hitting a 195 at Melbourne and these guys just falling like pins.

Despite playing 150-200 tests, one can hardly recall too many incidence. They used to fall apart v McGrath. Ind on many occasions used to struggle to score 250 in an inning. Dfficult to see them do well against Cummins, Starc, and Hazlewood. Even in Zim, they faltered as a group. Yes, they would line up vs BD

Check their average in evey nation then speak. Yoi are in the cult of someone who barely struggles to reach 40 average.

In the end thats all which matters, overall career, rest all is you stealing credit of players like pant and thakur

Yes wheh you use made  up things like selfishness stas and lie about intentions all is  good

.you are blaming a dude who played the day after his father died and who cried like a baby after india lost to paksitan despaite him scoring 137

At the same time you are in the cult of a person who constantly hamstrings the career of young players for his friends and ego, even when it affects the country results

You should be the last pwrpsn talking about selfishness and playing for themselvss.

who cares about averages when I have been watching cricket since 1987 as a kid

These guys have played so many series but will not have one where they can hit 500+ runs with 3 100s against an attack like Cummins, Starc and Hazlewood

Since India is almost zero in sports with cricket being a silver lining, I support these guys but would not overrate them

It was 1997 or something. I was hyper exited that Ind would win a test in WI, needing 120. Many of these guys were playing and they got bundled out. Look at what Pujara did taking blows in Aus despite not being at his best. If these guys had 1/2 the courage of Pujara.

Haha, the old blame the bowlers for phab 4 failures drama.

The fab 4 once had to chase 200 runs against zimbabwe at harare, do you know what happened then?

Heath Streak, broke them up in pieces.

Those 4 batsman were good individual players but they rarely clicked together in clutch situations.

Basically a team of selfish individuals who always kept personal interests above the team, no wonder one of them still cries about a freakin double century.

What did they fkin win? One series in Eng, that's it bas hogaya?

Before the test win in Zimbabwe in 2001, the last test victory for India outside Asia was in 1986. The last win in England was in 1986, in Australia 1981, in West Indies in 1976, in New Zealand 1976, 0 test victories in South Africa. In Asia, the last win in Sri Lanka was in 1993 and we had never won in Pakistan. Ever.

To go from that to achieving the following with the Fab 4 was phenomenal. You don't transform into world beaters overnight. You take steps and the odd leap every now and then, which helps the next generation of cricketers to believe winning overseas is not impossible. Before Fab 4, Indian cricket overseas was dead and buried 50 feet under. They got us to ground floor which was HERCULEAN. This is what they did:

- First test win in England since 1986, first drawn series since 1986 and series win since 1986 AFTER 21 YEARS

- First test win in Australia since 1981 and first drawn series IN 17 YEARS

- First test win in West since 1976 and series win in 2006 AFTER 30 YEARS

- First test win in South Africa EVER and first drawn series EVER

- First test win and first series win in Pakistan EVER

- First test win in New Zealand since 1976 and series win in New Zealand AFTER 40 YEARS

- First ever series win in Zimbawe

- First win in Sri Lanka since 1993

- Defeating the Australian ATG juggernaut

You also mentioned collapses. You're only dwelling on their failures. Do you know what they achieved?

- Highest ever run chase in the Indian sub-continent

- Second highest ever run chase in India

- Second highest ever run chase for India overseas (at the time)

-  Third highest ever run chase for India overseas (at the time)

- Fourth highest ever run chase for India overseas (at the time)

If you want to judge an ATG batting lineup by their failures alone, then every conversation about WI should be prefaced with their performance in the 1983 world cup final. Are you aware that the ATG Australian batting lineup FAILED to chase the following totals?

- 124 against England in 1997

- 175 against England in 1998

- 107 against India in 2004

- Failed to bat out LESS than 3 sessions at Kolkata in 2001

One can be uncharitable about Australia and say that the first time they met a very good English attach in 2005 they crumbled. Similarly against a Steyn led South Africa in multiple series. Hence, they must be overhyped. Heck, a 21year old Indian off spinner demolished them single handedly.

Should we have won certain tests? Definitely. Did we lose series from winning positions? Sure. But this team did what others had not done IN DECADES and helped the teams thereafter to build on that success.

Why are you going back to yesteryears. the topic is on pujara. you started it and getting railed for his flops. He has been flopping for 3 years with a half century every now and then to save his career. he is the modern day ravi shastri. I'm already over 00s guys. you need to get over pujara :--D

I don't even think you saw that match. Pujara would have made a first ball duck in that match. It was the classic 4th innings crumbler with uneven bounce.

we all saw how much courage pujara has this year. edging to slips is not a sign of courage. if he is that much courageous, why doesn't he go fight for India in kashmir

Lol pujara averages 20.33 in west indies against roach, holder and gabriel, but yeah he would have moved mountains against Ambrose and Walsh.

Pujaras technique worked in Australia one time, good for him. You can even make an argument that it might be the greatest individual series for an indian batsman. But to believe that he could repeat that in any country against any opposition is delusional

As I said, a 50% Pujara has as many good knocks as those supposedly in good form. Mental strength!

Cricketers are usually judged based on tough assignments not against BD, Zim and the depleted WI. But since many Indian batsmen did well against these minnows, there were ppl who once even tried to suggest how strong these teams are

Are Cummins, Hazelwood and Lyon the only tough bowling group in this era? What about Anderson, broad & stokes in England? Steyn, rabada and Morkel in SA? Southee, boult and Wagner in nz? Did he fail against all of them because it was too easy assignment? Out of all the excuses you make for puji, this one takes the cake

Btw, the Australian tours were not the "toughest assignment" in this era. They were actually the second easiest for touring batsmen, right next to WI. They have been churning out pattas since 2014. We all know about Pujara's battles in the toughest countries

now you're saying pujara is playing 50%. if he is playing 50% better not play at all. get in someone who's in form rather than mr.tortoise. he has been out of form for 3 years and you call this mental strength.

Even at 50% capacity, he has played 2 good knocks which is similar to or better than guys supposedly in good form - Rohit, KL, Jadeja and Pant, who in this test have only scored less than 50 runs combined.

In the last test:

Rohit 19 & 59

KL 0 & 8

Jadeja 4 & 30

Pant 2 & 1

Therefore in the last 3 innings, only 1 good score from these 4 who are in good form :hehe:

I did mention 3 countries. Ind had never won a series in Aus in its history till Pujara made it happen :aha:
