This was after the wtc final. same guy got into srini and claimed regional influence in 2011 is praising rat to the point of comparing him with Richards and Ponting after wtc final debacle. Looks like jimmy is the one being regional here. Herein I'll call him Jimmy twoface.

What a talented brain Jimmy has. Dhoni was doing well in ODIs and Sehwag was done pretty much in LOIs by that point. Pretty soon his test form was also gone. Srini mama was no nice guy but dropping jimmy was the right choice. It turns out jimmy was not that nice either but just pretending to be nice giving bhashans about regional selections

Rat wasn't going to captain that. It would have been Gambhir who might have got longer rope in ODIs if Dhoni was sacked. If you remember Gambhir did play series before CT but was dropped and Rohit opened and Dhawan had also made a come back. Had they sacked Dhoni, Gambhir would have become the captain.

Cant rule out the butterfly effect. We might have lost CT but for all you know, kohli would have been removed earlier and we would be winning multiple triphies and overseas series under rohit. Dhoni wouldn't have been captain for thise 8-0 series

Nope they wanted a young captain and it was going to be kohli 

 

Gambhir never had enough support in board, sehwag had more support to become captain but he wasnt keen on it .

Indian cricketers are plagued by regional bias, Jimmy Amarnath is one such example but that brigade is lead from the front by Sunny G. Betterment of Indian cricket is least of their concern.

Yet sunny g never claimed victimhood like jimmy did. jimmy claimed he's against regional bias but he had thoughts of putting his own regional player as captain and as in OP is not criticizing kohli but praising him to high heavens when the heat is on him

Don't really believe Amarnath had any regional bias. Dhoni was s North Indian as well.

I agree with you on Jimmy Amarnath's different yardsticks for different individuals, obviously cannot be taken seriously.

His two favourites to take over during those times were two Delhi cricketers i.e Gambhir & Kohli, what a surprise. But that randi rona of Amarnath worked wonders that time, MSD destroyed Aussies in the first test at Chennai & then won Champions Trophy few months later. 

There is no one to even ignite that kind of fire to perform for King Loli
