IPL bound players to travel from UK to UAE via commercial airlines

BCCI had plans to arrange chartered flights on 15th but that plan has now been cancelled. Players will now fly commercial airlines and do a 6 day quarantine in UAE.

Strange decision by BCCI and franchises. So many players traveling on commercial flights with their young families just a few days before the tournament. Has a huge risk potential. Doesn't feel like a well thought through decision.

Well if they do go through with this I see ECB potentially tying the noose around BCCI's neck!

Could be because UAE may have asked those arriving from England to serve 6 days of quarantine upon arrival. Earlier they had an exemption on the grounds of bubble to bubble transfer. Now it's clear there was no bubble in England, everyone is required to undergo the quarantine. 

 

If they arrive on 15th, many of them will he unavailable for first couple of matches

Absolutely. BCCI cannot go from players not willing to take the field due to Covid concerns but a day later being okay to take commercial flights!

BCCI should investigate why this breach of Covid protocol happened. Heads should be rolled. Shastri should be sacked sooner or later.

If according to some posters on here that family safety and playing IPL is more important then benefiting ECB then why will be ok with taking commercial flights? They should charter a private jet. In a tribunal this will favour ECB

If new rounds of testing has been done today then unless its all negative and is an acceptable evidence to UAE then yes they can  leave- but if any of them tests positive they have to quarantine for 10 days.

 

Even if you test negative here do you still have to quarantine in Dubai? what are their rules?

Ideally all teams would want to have their top India players available but if ipl has to start without them then go ahead. It’s not as if I’ll enjoy MI loss less because Rohit wasn’t available.

All the players from India & England will be undergoing 6-day quarantine before joining the team bubble in IPL 2021.

BCCI has its own rules to quarantine players before IPL so it doesnt matter if Dubai has

Why can’t the Franchisees book charter flights for their players and ferry them? Why leave it for an incompetent BCCI to ferry them on commercial flights?

 

Im sure Franchisees can down this much money to protect their players.

Good sense prevails. After Mumbai got Rohit, Bumrah, SKY and their families to UAE in a chartered flight, other franchises are doing the same. Media also reporting about RCB transferring Kohli and Siraj in a chartered flight. The BCCI chartered flight for other players is also likely.
