Archer is a quality bowler but is very injury prone. Even if he goes to some other team for big bucks he might not even play for them. Think of KKR buying Starc in 2017

starc intentionally doesnt turn up

If archer gets injured replace him, he has turned for them every year unlike starc unless injury has been very serious .

RCB: Kohli, Chahal, Maxwell, De Villiers
DC: Pant, Shaw, Dhawan, Rabada
SRH: Kane, Rashid, Bhuvi, Nattu

Would be interesting to see the captains for next year.. Four franchises might get new captains.

CSK - Gaikwad? Dhoni should call it a day.

KKR - need a new captain.  May be Gill or a new buy

RCB - need a new captain. Padikkal or a new buy.. . Maybe Iyer

SRH - unsure. Might retain Williamson or choose to revamp the squad fully

MI - will stick with Rohit

DC - will retain Pant

RR - will likely retain Samson as captain

PBKS - Might retain Rahul

SRH have been utterly foolish in the way they have handled Umran Malik.. if they had seen the potential they could have played him from game 1 of this leg.. or they could have hidden him ( released him ) and picked him silently during auction.. now this guy will go for millions in the next auction and Bayliss/KW/ laxman would scratch their  heads wondering what they have done.

RCB will have tough time

  1. Kohli - u cant let go of an icon player like him
  2. Chahal- the guy has been gun for them bowling at chinnaswamy for many yrs
  3. Siraj- An all condition n situation Indian fast bowler
  4. Devdutt- future star, already done a blunder in past by letting go of Rahul
  5. ABDV- even if he plays for 1 more yr a player like him can change fortune of any side
  6. Maxwell- He is a captaincy potential and the guy has clicked with him, he performs the teams looks like something else
  7. Harshal- he ll fetch a huge price in auction so difficult to buy back

Maxwell is showing out this year because of mega auction.  Once he's landed his next big contract he'll go back to half-assing it like he did last year.

DC:  Pant, Nortje, maybe Axar?

First half of the tournament Shaw would have been a no-brainer but he's so damn inconsistent.  There is a glut of good Indian opening batsmen so he may be more easily replaced than some others even though his PP devastation is a level above most of the competition.

DC are one of the few teams that doesn't rely so heavily on one or two superstars that if those guys don't fire they have no chance at winning.  That's a testament to proper preparation and overall good coaching. As long as Ponting and staff stay in place it don't make a **** who they sign, they will put together a team that works well together and keep on keeping on.

so u mean he can perform when he wants n dnt when he doesnt

Kidhar se aate hai be log

Pretty much.  His first full season was a display of destruction like none other.  Other than that, he's rather ordinary except seasons leading into a mega auction.

With Mumbai eliminated due to a combo of poor captaincy, bad coaching and failure of think tank, it’s time to reconsider retentions

i think Rohit is past it. Didn’t do anything this season and belly and fitness will only get worse

should retain Bumrah, Sky and Ishaan

No Pandus either in retentions. Not worth the money

Why add the captiency burden to youngsters like Gaikwad, Gill and Padikkal early in thier career and pressurise them. It has not worked well with more experienced players in Rahul and Pant both of whom seem to have gone into thier shells.

Jaddu/Faf for CSK

Maxwell for RCB

Very unlikely that they'll get to retain 4 indian players. Will be unfair to the new franchisees
