2012-2021 a failed decade for India at the world cup

Between 2012 to 2021, India played the following World Cups:

 

2012 T20 WC

2014 T20 WC

2015 WC

2016 T20 WC

2019 WC

2021 WTC

2021 T20WC (on going so a question mark) 

 

Two players have been mainstay of India batting and featured constantly in these events Rohit-Kohli, who have messed up many times in high-pressure games. I am not sure if future generations would remember them as fondly as some of the other mainstay players of other decades.

Yeah, but the thread is on world cups from an Indian cricket fan PoV … Esp. where a couple of players have been a common factor since 2012 including  in failing in many high pressure games. No Indian cricketer has got so many shots at world cups and done this badly as main players.

A failed decade when we should have at least 3-4 titles. Not even winning one will go down as a major disappointment. 

 

Not many Ind teams have made the KOs this frequently as this team had. It came down to something or the other to get knocked out. Just not good enough on the big day.

Earlier, Ind used to beat Pak so other things were being overlooked. Now that cushion is gone as well.

Frame those 100s on your wall, along with all the chances that he received.  When it mattered, Ind was 5/3. And everyone saw how he went in high pressure games like v NZ, a virtual KO, and arch rival Pak in this World Cup.

a horrible decade for the team, especially given the paucity of contenders. batting and/or bowling lineups that regularly crumbled or choked under pressure

Okay with 50 over WC record. 2015- Australia was a better team(performance was on par 2003), 2019 - one bad day and bad luck as well(weather). 

20 over record is below avg given the current performance and ipl.

Officially out of 2021 T20 WC too ... A sad play at WCs from 2012-21 esp. for a team that is considered among the top teams ... Rohit-Kohli remind me of the song below:

This decade (2021-2030) will be worst. Atleast we were playing well in league stage in last decade but this world cup was a shocker

2019 WC was the big loss. The best bowling attack weve had and we wasted it on poor selections and strategies in our batting, our traditional strengths. Rest I dont believe were anything we could have done better.

 

For T20s, India have never been a great T20 side, just dont have the personnel for it . It was only due to the emergence of Kohli that we have been competive in the previous couple of editions, otherwise we shouldnt be anywhere near. Now that he is no longer that player, we are back to sucking at it.
