I am from Indian Punjab where the culture is similar to Pakistan Punjab, but we have not produced express fast bowlers. Cricket is not very popular in Indian Punjab compared to Pak punjab. I think there are other reasons for Pakistan having fast bowlers.

Its more to do with local culture . When I was growing up in Lahore and started playing cricket, like most of the boys  I wanted to outpace boys in my club and school. In Punjab it was more pro-fast bowling culture and in Karachi it was more pro-batting. Don;t know how's there now. I don;t live in Pakistan anymore.

Shoaib has a point. Khizr Hayat and Shakoor Rana hailed from Pak Punjab. They were ably supported by Imran and Sarfraz to form the best foursome in history. With that culture it only makes sense ki Shoaib thora chaathi khol kar chalega.

On our Australian tour of 2018-19, Bumrah was out and out express and Shami was hostile fast.

On our England tour of 2021, the higher speeds of our Fast bowlers, compared to the English seamers except Wood, played a big part in our twin wins at Lord's and the Oval. Bumrah cranked it up beyond 145 kph when needed in the series and Shami, Umesh and Siraj cranked it up beyond 140 kph quite often. And this was needed when the conditions flattened out in the 2nd innings.

There were lots of quick, hostile, effective bouncers bowled by us in all 3 series wins.

We had never managed any series win in Australia in our history when we had medium pacers.

The English swing bowlers were less effective than our Fast seam bowlers in swing friendly England. And we lead 2 -1 in the 4 test series.

We did poorly vs New Zealand because their batsmen are vastly superior than ours in 2020 and 2021. ( combined loss of form of Pujara, Kohli, Rahane )

140-145 kph is ideal. OP wants 150+ kph bowlers, which we don't need.

85-90 mph bowlers with brains any day over 95 mph bowlers who are there only to bowl fast.

Agree to a large extent  !  Express bowling is indeed a revered art in cricketing folklore and the BCCI, with it's financial might, should try to produce lots more 150 kph pacers.

But In the last 10 years, there have been several instances when Indian Fast bowlers have been among the top few quickest pacers in a Series or tournament.

Bumrah bowled the Fastest Ball in Australia at 153.26 kph in 2018-19, Bumrah was the 3rd Fastest bowler in all test matches in 2018, Umesh and Aaron have topped the speed charts often enough between 2011 and 2017, Saini bowled lots of 150 kph + balls in IPL 2019, Srinath bowled the 2nd Fastest ball of WC 1999, Umran was the 2nd Fastest bowler in IPL 2021.

BUT

The Broadcasters, the Indian commentators and Analysts have been strangely silent when these have occurred. Foreign commentators have not been that vocal either except in case of Umran. While the same group have hyped up the speeds of many other teams.

It is like the entire cricket fraternity do not want to leave behind the image of Indian medium pacers of earlier decades.

We have to produce someone who crosses 150 kph every game and is a good bowler too, to demolish this stereotype.

Agree with your post.

Varun, Umesh, Saini etc are seen as anomaly and their short shell life didn't help the long established perception as well. Umesh played long enough but no longer bowling Fast enough.

Along with Bumrah we need few other quick bowlers to build a pace bowling legacy.

He also said Pak Punjabi bowl fast due to their aggression lol... aggression apparently as if its a virtue. And you are suggesting BCCI find someone who bowls 155 a few times just for the sake of doing it? Pretty sure some track and field athletes will manage to bowl 160 a few balls and then breakdown promptly next over never to return bcci should debut them since the intellectual giant Akthar told Indians don't bowl fast? Hehe

Talk about taking matter out of context.

No one gives a Flying funk about what akhter has to say.

The discussion is about correcting perception of Indian can't bowl fast and because of this even those who have bowled or bowling Fast goes unnoticed.

As a cricketing powerhouse we aspire to build cricketing legacy in  all its facets.

We won in Australia and England without express bowling, so it's not needed.

This obsession with bowling speed is a Pakistani one, we must develop bowlers who know how to bowl according to situations and conditions. A classic example is how we got schooled in NZ test series where pace is ineffective and bowlers like Praveen Kumar, Binny, Bhuvi tend to be more effective.

No one says express bowling is a need but it's  rather good to have and more so when you aspire to dominate cricket everywhere and in every format.

Bhuvi and it's ilk can ve effective in NZ bit we all saw what happened to us with him, Thakur and slower version of Shami in WT20.

Bollywood has several fractions. The fraction that makes movies against pak is different than the fraction which Kohli is part of.

It is not correct.

Here is the LIST of those Indian Movies, which have been banned in Pakistan.

Now please separate these movies according to your claim, and show us which bollywood supports Pakistan and which bollywood opposes Pakistan.

Why the obsession to dominate cricket? India is already a financial powerhouse which is why cricinfo is eagerly waiting for an opportunity to present BCCI as fascist in their articles.

I don't want BCCI to become like USA in global politics by having everything.

As an Indian Cricketing Fan I want India to dominate cricket on the ground and build a legacy surpassing WI and Austin's.

Each to their own.

Blame is to Bollywood. Bollywood love for Pakistanis is well known and it has been displayed through our team now. Kohli the captain who mc-bc every other team, even his own team mates in IPL just doesn't show the same agression against Pakistan since his bollywoodization. He seems ready to serve his behind to Pakistanis whenever they play. Same reflects in Indian team's attitude against Pakistan.

Isnt bollywood very anti Pakistan ? its love for Pakistan is a news to me

That's because you have been lapping up propaganda.  Bollywood has never been anti-Pakistan.  Random one-off movie might have a storyline that makes you feel that way, but that's far from the norm.  But again, you are free to believe what you wish...

These days lot of Pak based films are made which have Muslims esp Pakistanis as villains.. Recently released Sooryavanshi is one eg.

Movie plots will reflect the popular concerns of the time.  Its undeniable that Pakistani terrorists have committed murder and mayhem in India for more than 30 years.  If Pakistanis feel offended by fictional depictions of this, they should be more vociferous in their own government's actions and support of blood-thirsty murderers. 'Taking offence' over movies is an impotent and meaningless act.
