maniac Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Let them commentate or act in nominal consultant roles. I have no faith in Dravid either. This whole mentor idea was 100% Ganguly’s. This is the same guy who wanted Pujara/Rahane in the WC. Sachin is a good analyst but he will get bored in an analyst role and he is also another “process” guy. He will not take up these roles. Kumble as we saw with India and Punjab sticks to the same tried and tested formula. Gambhir is ok but if you listen to him closely, his criticism is bang on and that appeals to us but his solutions are again very old school and regressive. VVS/Sehwag/Zak the lesser said the better. Listen to these guys commentate and give their insights and analysis. They are outdated and they are stuck with what worked for them and not what will work in the future. 0 vision. Dont get your hopes up with Dravid. He might have worked well at the junior level but the senior team like many coaches and captains have found out in the past is a different ball game. David won't fix jackshyt instantly. He is step above the leech but let us not forget he pushed Binny on us. I rather have two coaches and three captains so that decision making is better. Old players dont have progressive mindset. Look at England, they hired consultants from baseball That is the way to go for T20 nevada, Banton, diehardpacer and 1 other 4
Sgattick10 Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Need attitudinal shift. Can't play ODI in T20.. Most of these stalwarts haven't played that many T20s or are out of sinc with today's world. Bring a Eng/NZ coach Suhaan, maniac, express bowling and 1 other 4
Lord Posted November 7, 2021 Posted November 7, 2021 Dravid is very shrewd and is underrated as captain. His big challenge will be managing the egos. If superstars can give him enough authority and respect,he'll be an asset. Sunil_narine024 1

No rohit please, make iyer or pant or anyone captain and have him be under dravid. Wean out the oldies slowly Sgattick10 and cricketfan28 2

His method would be more with conservative style than unorthodox . So not expecting anything in T20. Only plus could be talented players may get more chances without too much chop & change . But at A level he has this keeda of playing everyone in 15 .18. Hope this does not happen at senior Level. More worry is of other guys -Bowling Coach - If its Paras & Batting coach - Vikram . VVS - Ganguly should remember a great batsmen may not be a good coach , and IPL suggests VVS is not a good Coach. If these selections happen you get a feeling that there is no selection which happened looking at merit . Ye bus Shifarasi thofa to co players exception may be only Dravid. We will run the circus for another 2 years and then they will say we need coaches who can bring us to modern level in short formats. Biggest gap would be pace bowling area from NCA to India senior level. BCCI should have engaged atleast 1 out & out former Pace bowler from other nations at NCA , A level & India Senior level who have shown good results. It is amazing that majority of the recent U19 are mostly on injured list and hardly played 10+ matches over a 2-3 year period. There is not much noise made as to why so many getting injured again & again. BCCI seems to be sleeping . maniac 1
nevada Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Legend status shouldn't mean an automatic selection for coaching job. It is flawed thinking and dragging our cricket team backwards. Underated cricketers like Abhishek Nair, Pravin Amre etc have been very good coaches. Amre is very impressive, specifically focusing on developing six hitting ability in T20. He has done very good work with Mumbai Indians as well as T20. He is the type of coach to look for - someone without legendary baggage, pragmatic, and in tune with the needs of modern cricket. Just because you are a good player does not mean you are a good coach. Does not work that way.
