Good to see Srikar Bharat blasting it. 156 of 138 balls when others were struggling.. just shows one thing… what confidence can do to you.. after probably being the best batsman for rcb in ipl and his fabulous wk substitute appearance in nz test, he seems at different level. I really want him to be part of at least the test team against lanka.

Up, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and vidharbha have the best young pacers coming through consistently, most of the u19 Indian pacers since 2016 have been from these states. Andhra, Hyderabad and Kerala are doing okay in producing pacers but TN and Kar completely lacking atm.

Checked today Ruturaj has played his 5 matches at Rajkot with matches vs Kerala, MP, Chattisgarh, Chandigarh and Uttarakhand, last 3 being plate teams. Takes nothing away from his great efforts but does put the scores in perspective.

Why has TN and kerala not produced a single fast bowler in recent times? Not counting nattu as he is a medium pacer. He is good but still medium. Where is lokesh raj?

Kerala have thampi, Asif, warrier, nidheesh looks okay, Tamil Nadu should be doing far better, specially with the mrf pace foundation based in Chennai, plus the association has the best cricket infarstructure in the country state wise.

We had this tournament NKP Salve challenger trophy to further filter the players. Due to lack participation from the national players it was discontinued in 2014.  Sachin/Yuvraj/Dhoni all used to be part of the tournament. Over a period due to scheduling they stopped participating. May be they can revisit the idea. 

 

This is 2004/05 Challenger trophy stats. You can see Sachin/Yuvi/Gambhir all participating.

Shardul, Hardik are not real pacers. Mukesh is decent, Tushar has regressed. Have not seen Minad. Arjun is too raw at the moment.

Yashraj Malap is sharp too but not getting chances.

Umesh and Ishant have lost pace due to age and bowling for many years.

 

Umesh bowled fast for the first 7 years of his career ... and then lost pace gradually.

 

Shami actually gained in terms of average speeds in 2016 ...  bowled fast from 2016 to 2020 ... again losing some pace this year due to age.

 

Siraj has added pace at age 27.

 

The days of Munaf, Zaheer and Sreesanth, losing pace in their 20s, is hopefully gone. It happened in the 2010s.

Hardik when fit was faster than every south pacer bar prasidh, shardul has over 200 first class wickets, bumrah also from Gujarat, not a single south pacer currently playing has achieved 200 wickets, plus the likes of unadkat, nagaswallah, dhawal kulkarni, sakariya are far better than koushik, m Mohammed, Vijay Shankar, silambarasan, Pratik Jain, vidhyadhar Patil

How quick is awasthi from Mumbai? Hangargekar obviously is quite quick for his age, Baroda have better seamers than both TN and Karnataka
