I think its a new group which will take time to really hit their strides. Olivier was a big miss this match as he also brings in experience which I thought was lacking on the first day.

2 years to become a very good team

we are playing them at a good time

 As if we were winning this time.

SA pace attack in their own conditions is looking excellent. Rabada, Nortje, Lungi, Jansen, Olivier, Stuurman, Sipamla (in decreasing order). All they need to do in unearth a good AR and 1-2 more batters.

SA has a decent pace attack in their conditions and a sub par but disciplined batting lineup. They can beat unprofessional talented teams at home but I don't think they will fare that well against Aus/Eng who are more professional. We should have won this series 3-0 but we ended up losing. This series and the one in NZ are heartbreakers due to clueless captaincy and team selections that are based on nepotism and jealousy of captain. He has destroyed more than one talented player.

If not for the opening partnership of KL and Mayank in the first test, we would have lost 0-3. Against the current SA team! Shows how pathetic our batting has become. Our batsmen's game plan - get out for a low score and hope the opposition gets out for a lower score for fear of imaginary demons in the pitch.

yep, one good day of batting is all that separated us from 0-3

They are coming out of transition phase, their fast bowling is absolutely sorted. They have a decent spinner in Maharaj. They have a good MO in Bavuma and VD dussen. All they need to find is a good Wicket Keeping batsman. Markram, though talented, has not done full justice to his potential. Once he starts firing in all cylinders, this SA team can beat any team anywhere.

I doubt this last part, but agree with rest. with the kind of spin bowling reserves they have, they cannot beat Ind on spinning tracks. likes of olivier, rabada, ngidi would be rendered ineffective and their batters are suspect against spin (best example is markram)

SA do have potential to again become a competitive team in SENA. However, what they need is a genuine AR, good batsman-keeper and willingness to ditch Maharaja on some tracks and play him on the correct ones. Their pace attack is more or less set: Olivier, Stuurman, Ngidi will be good locally; Rabada, Nortje, Jansen can do well in most SENA places; and Sipamla also has a lot of potential.

AR position is missing. Pretorius is a bit better than Mulder, but they need to search for other options.

As for batting, they are not playing their most optimal lineup. at least 1 of the 3 malan bros should be there, Petersen is shaping up well, Bavuma is gutsy even if doesn't score many runs, R. van Tonder should be playing soon, etc.

Plus dewald bravis this guy already looks class apart at u19 level,i agree that there is difference between u19 and international but u can see shades of abdv in him, I'd be very surprised if he doesn't play for South Africa that is before england sets their eyes on him

Sa are pacers technically very good unlike ours, coaches are much better. Also much better educated due to their top end sports schools.

And this is a major issue in South Africa, a youngster at most time will only get an opportunity to play provincial cricket if they play for a top school.

there is many talented players in the public schools that do not get a chance , many provincial cricket teams are affiliated to top schools.

you might get a few who get spotted and given a chance.

South Africa have around 1.5-2million South African born Indians and there top talent around

Mulder coming into his own willl really balance the side even more, guy is very highly rated and will be backed.

From what I have seen he looks subpar.

Jansen

Rabada

Ngidi the weak link but even he is pretty good in sena

Nortje

It's a complete varied attack. Jansen is the difference maker. Incredible batting ability to go with left arm pace and bounce.

Lmao looking back at the major clowns here and in pakpassion. What all was said.

#weak saffers

#quota boys

#regressed and declined

#discarded, disbanded for county lol

Yea right. For the sub 100 k salary in county for a professional cricketer ?

They only get rid of players they don't believe in. Lot of black players that play have played on merit like rabada ngidi and pietersen. All are deserving. Maybe not bavuma but he is no slouch either. Very good in sena conditions.

Quality side. It's a production factory. They ain't going nowhere.

In Test Cricket, they have always always been quality, just had a small couple of years downside to get themselves back to the best.

When it comes to winning away from home, they have been arguably better than Australia too and hence in Tournaments like WTC, I think they will always be among the favourites.

Look at their pace attack for example - Rabada, Nortje, Jansen and Ngidi/Olivier.

Rabada a complete bowler, still young and has close to 250 wickets in tests

Nortje a 150 kph bowler

Jansen a left arm pacer who can swing the ball around and brings the angle.

Olivier can bowl barrage of short ball to trouble the batsman.

It is indeed a complete attack.

I hope Indian management learns from it and brings more variation in their pace attack. Need an express pace attack or a left arm pacer with good pace like Mohsin.

Key is like I always said. Infact I am sick of repeating it. It's bounce. Bounce then worry about pace. Generate that steepling bounce first.

Batsmen just can't handle it.
