Will Count Pujara sign off in style in potentially his last test inning in SA? (Ind in SA 2022)

As someone who has been waiting for India to win a test series in SA, I was hoping for a miracle with the match in balance. The thread was done to cheer the Count to play one of his impact knocks. But alas, thr moment has not arrived. The destiny wants the fans like me (followed the first tour to SA too) to wait longer (but every passing year, I follow cricket less so that win may come at a time I no longer care about it :(( )

As for CDP versus Count, Dracula is implied …

It seems the Count forgot to wear his false dracula teeth and went there with a sunken face

A test average of 43.88 with 6700 runs and 92 tests.

I think time has come for Pujara to call it off a day. The 40s and 50s once in every 5 inning is not gonna be enough and this has been the case after 2018-19 Australia series.

Overall, good test player and will be in my list of top 10 Indian batsman since 1970.

Both Pujara and Ashwin have made India a dominant force at home and Sri Lanka but Pujara's time is over as he is not performing at half the level even against spinners. He has smacked some very good spinners in his career but his inability to do it now tells us all we have to know.

neither he nor rahane will call it a day - why would then when they can earn fat paychecks? the onus is on selectors, team management, and captain for selecting them

Others have come and gone but the count changed Ind's destiny (and history) in Aus. Not once but twice (and we know about his exploits in Ind & SL)

The Count can even put his last limb on the line but this time the forces were too strong (made heroes out of a relatively inexperienced side) ... The great masters at work took out Ind's only hope early, rendering everything else that followed pointless :((

Giving inspiration to upcoming soccer players in Ind & SA, something to salvage out of the series :thumb:

like how his batting was to give catching practice to poor SA wicketkeeper and underprivileged slips fielders so that they can salvage something out of this series :winky:

If India was to make history, the Count would have been unshackled in the final inning (which is why the thread to cheer him as history hinged on potentially the final inning of the Count in SA)

Otherwise the series is more of the same in SA. 100 and 66 all out. Lost the series after winning the first in 2006/7 iirc (Paul Harris took 4 wkts in first inning), and so on ... ... ...

So what you're saying is its the same with or without pujara as you mentioned 1996 and 2006 tour. so much for CDP being the most impactful batsman since 1990

In SA, nothing has changed. You will see players hit 100s on every tour. Once it was Dravid and Tendulkar, Count and Kohli, and so on, this time KL and Pant …

Only someone like Count has the potential to change the history (did it twice in Aus) …  No impact inning from Count, no history this time … Count was shackled :((

why was count shackled. isnt it time to django unchain himself and unleash the blood sucking against the saffers. he did the sucking but no blood came out this time. and I see you consider Pant, Gill, Bumrah, Ashwin, Siraj, Thakur, Sundar, and to a lesser extent Rohit, Rahane only playing cameos in 20-21 Aus tour for the legendary gujarat lion cum dracula CDP. Am I right?

If you look at that series, among the batsman you listed, the Count is the only one to play the full series, along with Rahane. In the last two tests, he hit 3 50s, again the most and soaked up a lot of pressure. Many of the others were newbees, playing without much pressure too.

As I countered before it looks like Ind was shackled by dracula sucking its blood :winky:

he also scored a few ducks while playing the full series and made regulation channel deliveries look unplayable and turned 4s into dots, 2s into 1s. only a count can do such things :hail:

Yep, the only way Ind could have created "history" was if the Count, the master of impact, had been unshackled in the last inning
