I don't rate Brat all that highly, but a sub-50 avg is not enough to preclude someone from ATG status. King Viv would still be an ATG if his test avg was 0.3 lower (49.9 instead of the actual 50.2)

Brat has to score 156 runs in one innings here (doesn't have to be not out) to reach the average 50 again.  Either that or 106 not out in one innings.

Yes.. Virat atg in tests Even his avg end with below 50 avg in tests.. Most double hundreds by indian and most times he scored 600+ runs in test series.. Virat scored 600+runs in series 3 times next gavaskar dravid each 2 times scored 600+runs.. In sachin era next best indian batsman avg 52+ 49+, in this generation next best indian batsman avg 44+(min 100 innings)..

If he gets a big hundred in the current Test he has a chance of getting closer to achieving that. If he does not, I don't see him getting to 50 and his average will keep falling.

It's now decided Coolie has no place in an India ATG XI in both tests and T20s. But even in ODIs he's expendable seeing his performances in knockouts.

Can't really blame any pro athlete for not retiring. It's the selectors/BCCI's job to throw them out. But they don't have balls or even brains.
