Secondly earlier it took almost 2-3 seasons to detect weakness in a batter's game which today gets exposed within a series or even before a series (if playing in IPL) due to technology . Shaw's attitude and lack of full focus might be the BIG reason he ,may not become what he can . We can make out by his fitness , attitude towards coaches , slow improvement in countering weakness. Even Sarfraz's Pot belly now ( Duleep trophy) does not look good for 24 year old . In that sesnse , i would rather bet on Jaiswal though he might have less talent. By that logic, we should drop our pot bellied captain first. Link to comment

He's not even Raina, let alone Waugh Raina literally had fear for short ball. Not able to play and fearing are two different things. I have not seen Iyer a lot but what ever I have seen , I have not seen him look worse than raina. Edited September 28, 2022 by putrevus Link to comment

OTOH, Iyer literally dances v short balls. Link to comment

Most of the shots in video were hoicks which Raina was always good.later in his career Raina was literally being bounced by even bowlers like Thissara Perrra .You can always get by without playing hook shot in white ball cricket. Iyer also can adapt a method which works for him. Link to comment
Need4Speed
Sarfaraz khan has amassed a lot of runs in domestic cricket and just deserve a chance purely on that level..however..To the naked eye.. Patidar looks more authoratative player against the pace..and seems may do well in higher level cricket.. Vk1 and tweaker 2 Link to comment

All he does is back away and try to hit over offside Link to comment

We need a good test batsman in the middle after Rahane, Pujara fading and Vihari not oozing confidence. He is a great candidate for #5. Give him a debut at home this season against Australia. tweaker 1 Link to comment
express bowling
Really good innings by Sarfraz today. But Saurashtra's bowling did not have anyone bowling above 132 k. Need to see him against pace and bounce, like the ROI attack had. Mosher 1 Link to comment
Vk1
have a feeling that Sehwag 2.0 is coming.. imagine Pant & Sarfraz batting together.. that's bazball cricket that will make dravid cry in bathroom Norman and Mosher 2 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Sarfraz needs an extended run in Tests. Gill, Sarfraz, Pant should form the middle order. Shaw missed the bus. I think Jaiswal should be the first guy they should consider. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Patidar is definitely a short form candidate. He has very good range of strokes. Link to comment

Patidar might be another SKY for us in LOIs... But his FC bullying & then performance vs NZ A can't be ignored. I think both him & Sarfraz should be given a shot in BD test tour. tweaker 1 Link to comment
