kubrickian Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 Not everyone on the field can be Dravid or Sachin types. Everyone has their own personality. What matters at the end of the day is their performance and if they are helping the team win or not. This could very well be a heat of the moment thing, he could just be frustrated at some misfield. Its just a way of letting off some steam when you are under pressure. coffee_rules and zen 2

No, the 'third world junk' inference you made. it did not really have anything to do with what happened other than that maybe it gave you a reason to sit on your soapbox and preach about irrelevant matters while making it seem like it is only behaviour that is peculiar to this part of the world which is proven that it isn't or you wanted to defend the guy who made it being his fanboy. Might be both. Rest is just more non sequiturs and obscurantist drivel. Whataboutery in another different instance is not relevant to this discussion which you were wrong about in the first place but which you are still doubling sown on. Social media terrorism or the 'third world junk' as you call it is more prevalent in the so called 'first world' where social media emerged from which kind of disproves your baseless assertion considering it is premised on the idea that everyone is going to indulge in it if someone else does it without trying to better themselves which is just a figment of your imagination. It only serves to highlight your dishonesty. Call the phenomenon for what it is instead of making an inaccurate sweeping generalisation which is pretty '3rd world' while bemoaning '3rd world junk'. Take your own advice. 25 minutes ago, zen said: To be an “Indian” one has to be also accountable and responsible. Even animals and birds are born in India. Might be a good idea to look into your own fallacies. Talking about 3rd junk on a topic on 3rd world junk does not imply that junk in other worlds to varying degrees does not exist (MH380 example). It could be that you (or some posters) are a part of the problem itself. As for e.g. if someone told me about the issues of crime against women in India, I would be all ears to see where a difference can be made. Not go around listing crime rates against women in other countries. If ppl really care about India, there is an issue with “huge quantities” of 3rd world junk, which probably stems from irresponsible and unaccountable behaviour in India. Many times, it is even hard to read proper comments on YT for e.g. Many people in India might not even meet minimum standards to be a part of a civilized discussion on social media.

Thinking that sleeping around or being black is cool etc. that’s they prototype of the poserish behavior I detest. Anyways it is irritating but not a deal breaker. He communicated his point to his teammates, who would be on equal terms with him. What is being discussed by "fans" is what is heard through the stump mic. Even on social media (I follow him on Twitter & maybe Instagram), he does not post anything controversial as far as I know. It is usually about sharing an update or talking about his performance or praising a cricketer. He can be flashy with his fashion/style but that is hardly a concern. After the T20WC19, he was attacked for no big reason. When he was fighting his injuries, he was made fun off. When he became the captain of GT, he was attacked again by a section of his haters. This thread too is probably designed as an instrument to attack him (for probably no reason but because he has been successful recently) ... When the issue could be how certain sections are using social media to unnecessarily attack cricketers. I am glad that most good posters have not commented negatively here. It is mostly the bad apples that are on this thread. And someday someone will stand up for such a player (I tend to do that for highly talented cricketers) and if taking the time to do that might as well take the opportunity to address the larger point! BacktoCricaddict Posted July 11, 2022 Posted July 11, 2022 @zen bhai, quite the defence attorney you are for Pandya. I am trying to think of how strongly you will defend The Count Dracula if he's ever caught saying "Maadar ..." on the stump mic :-). Just imagining Puji saying that is giving me the chills! zen and coffee_rules 2

He can sleep around with as many women as he pleases. It's his life. He can post nudes even on onlyfans. He can do as he pleases as long as he performs. He is not even close to being a problem. He is a key player for us. Let's first worry about kicking out old guard and overrated fodders like kohli etc. Besides what did pandya do wrong? Abuse shami for GT ? So? It's sport. You get abused all the time. When I used to play high grade level football, I used to throw expletives at everyone who under performed including so called seniors. It's part of the game. Ok so he abused kohli? And? Kohli deserves to get abused regardless. Indians really need to get over this seniority and superstar culture. Edited July 12, 2022 by Jay zen 1

I still feel the caste system and the fact that he mentioned about karr key ayaa rofl still infuriates the general public. Isn't pandya from a lower caste? Look at the asinine abuse thrown around like calling him chapri etc. I don't like such behaviour. If you want to criticise a player then mock his skills or physique. No need to insult him based on his upbringing. I insult pandya at times but I never mention his caste or racially abuse him. If I do insult him, it's everything to do with his under performance or lack of ability. He is a talented player and there is no doubt about it. I think he is a key figure for us. Key to winning an LOI tournament. We have more things to worry about. Pandya is no where close to being one. Get rid of deadwood first. We know who they are. zen 1

I just hear some people abusing his skin tone, calling him low caste brute, chapri, shoe cleaner or whatnot online. Totally unnecessary. He did exceptionally well for GT. Marshalled his troops to victory. Fine leader. I like his mental fortitude. He also is a winner. Winning IPL does add value. What has kphli ever won in IPL ? Exactly. Champion mindset is different. That's why rohit is doing well so far as captain. As much as I dislike his current version for LOI, his value as captain is appreciated.
