Why has Ishan Kishan been dropped after an excellent series vs a top team like South Africa?

Recommended Posts

He must play these games. A left handed batsman and a match winner on his day.

Shreyas has got his chances and he must be dropped. When KL and Kohli come back, it will be one between DK and Pant and I think DK has more going in his favour now.

Rohit

Rahul( backup - Kishan)

Kohli

SKY( backup - Pant)

Pandya( backup - Hooda)

Jadeja

DK

Ind should look to invest in Hooda more (as he is versatile and bowl too) than Kishan & S Iyer, both of whom can struggle against bounce above the chest area (Kishan slightly better against bounce but needs to improve his overall game. Lacks strike rotation skills as well so usually only good in PP if he gets going).

Ishan is an impact player, he can win you game on his day. D Hooda cannot do that. Honestly, I don't even recall Hooda playing pace great either. He is an accumulator and can be used as backup for Pandya or in place of Jadeja but then bat higher.

Wait for some time, the Hooda bubble will burst too. Kishan proved his worth vs SA and hence deserves a run as long as Rahul and Kohli isn't back.

At the moment, Hooda is the more useful player (and getting better too) …  Kishan is good too in Indian conditions but needs to work on playing short balls (not the waist high ones that he gets to play in Ind). He got his opportunities in the last WC too and his game hasn’t improved much. But yeah, he can be useful in suitable conditions against a mostly trundling attack and spinners.

Why Hooda is not selected, why Surya a  middle order batsman make to open. Why only other have to be experimented, why Rohit is not playing in the middle order.

Why a player who has scored a 100,can bowl some overs is not selected .

Why young players Hooda,Surya,Bishnoi,Jadeja are tossed around .

I think rherse players are just to fill the numbers uptill Virat,Rahul,Dhawan, are back

Why is Suryakumar Yadav opening the batting when they have Kishan sitting after a successful series vs a major cricket nation like South Africa?

What is Rohit trying to achieve here?

No KL, No Kohli , Kishan gotta open in T20s unless he is unfit.

Surya fanboys will be crying for your noggin. Sar tan se juda :whack:

He hasnt helped his case in anyway

Kishen vs pant

  • Pant is a better keeper , far better
  • As batsman also pant is far better . Yes he hasnt cracked t20 but kishen hasnt done anything great either . Obv in such case ull back someone with more quality . Kishen is nowhere the quality of batsman pant is.
  • Kishen also played at open whereas pant has mostly been in middle a far tougher position. Even in IPL pant has 3 beast seasons where as kishen just one n half good season.
  • Pant has no technical issues , he throws his wkt which even kishen does.
  • Kishen also lacks adaptability and struggles against offies big time.
  • Kishen also isnt good at hard length while pant is very good.
  • Pant is a clutch player

Kishen as opener

  • His s.r is 116 in PP this year in 28 t20 .....so he has failed at his one job.
  • His career s.r is 132 , kohli in same time period has a s.r of 136 and he is woefully out of form

Unless ur talented like KL, Pant, Rohit u wont get extra backing and rightly so u cant back everyone its impossible.

Or ur a rare commidity like pandya was. He is competing with a guy who is a genertaional talent - pant and for open with a guy - KL again one of the best talents who record ik t20 is also phenomenal. With that competition u cant win with 132 s.r and 116 in pp. Rohit sharma in his recent worst IPL yrs has s.r of 126 in PP

Well Pant is the keeper...  Playing both him & DK is not a good idea.  I feel we need one more leftie in there.  These left arm spinners or Leggies will tie us down every single time otherwise.

Playing DK does mess up the balance so it will be a hard call

And yes one leftie is a must , actually one is also less but abhi wo bhi fit krna mushkil ho rha hai . Pant, sky does well against leggies and leggies tie DK up

DK just has one quality which is very difficult to ignore but that comes at cost of balance so it will be very hard call . DK becomes crucial against sides with high pace hard length bowler where hardik can struggle and even sky , hooda, kishen once teams figure out even they arent very strong against it.

Hooda I think will do alright against Hard lengths...  As he has a open stance like SKY & is a tall guy.  Manages to get in line with the ball.  Cut pull both are strong on the square of the wicket.    But he seems to be a back up option.  He could do wonders for us in Top 3 but seems like TM wants him back up option for either Hardik or Jaddu.

Kishan is a interesting case..  He has good matchup vs both Maharaj & Shamsi... So assuming he will be good option to have vs Nawaz & Shadab.  Decent enough on backfoot.  Dude does have issues with fuller length balls & limited stroke play on off side.  Fighting his spot with DK...  Who is first choice clearly.   It's a close call between these two while comparing pros n cons.

Kishan might get his chance in Zim so let's see how hard he pushes his case.  DK will get the go ahead for Asia Cup at least
