ravishingravi Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Outrageously ambitious. There were parts in the movie I was thinking to myself, is there anything on paper that Rajamouli looks at and says it’s too much. There is nothing too much in his universe. Inglorious basterds meets British raj meets freedom fighters meets superhero meets Ramayana / Mahabharata. I am not well inducted into Telgu cinema but they certainly are daring to dream. Key to their growing stature is the pan India appeal, authenticity ( staying true to their conviction ), top class execution and the best technicians in India. Bollywood is nowhere. It will be reduced to rubble in coming years as more authentic voices rise from different parts of India. PS There is one particular scene which had me in tears. I never expected a scene like this mainstream cinema.
ravishingravi Posted August 6, 2022 Author Posted August 6, 2022 Mods. Can you move this to movies that surprised you.

gattaca Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 I thought this movie was bad. His best work was eega or makhi. nevada and Ankit_sharma03 2
coffee_rules Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 Effort by all, actors put in a lot for his movies unlike BollyFactory. This movie is average for the standard set. I don’t know what Alia was doing in this blink if you miss role.
sandeep Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 movie is not something miraculous - just a good timepass action blockbuster with some caricature like villains as well as heroes. But thats fine. Not all movies have to be cinematic 'brilliance'. You can have a mass entertainer. For me, like I said, the best part was that ending credits song. very sweet and nicely executed, full 'mile sur mera tumhara' vibes. coffee_rules and nevada 2
zen Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 I watched it on Netflix (or Prime) some time back ... It was a good time pass fun esp. for the action sequences
EnterTheVoid Posted August 6, 2022 Posted August 6, 2022 A lot of noise around this movie. Is it really that good? Good to see Telugu cinema getting the credit it deserves. I still rate Tamil cinema a few notches higher.

Yup, I wasn't looking at time while watching but not going to watch it again. Hindi cinema has stopped making such entertainers. Ayushman khurana and rajkumar rao these are the only two who's movie I still watch with anticipation it would have something new. Such garbage coming out of hindi cinema not just RRR recent south movies are actually entertaining. I was surprised how much i enjoyed pushpa. sandeep 1

Khurana's formula of a middle class north Indian family + social issue has pretty much worn out now. Rao although comes up with better variety but still Nothing to write home about. Such a pity creators like Motwane Kashyap are busy with their anti hindu/Anti establishment propaganda. Things are so low that Zoya Akhtar has been hyped as one of the best now lol. Apart from Bhansali to an extent no one call pull off epic stuff in Bollywood.
ravishingravi Posted August 7, 2022 Author Posted August 7, 2022 It's not a great movie by any stretch. But I was struck by conviction, confidence and ambition of filmmaker. This is a man at peak of his powers and can make the most mediocre ideas work.
ravishingravi Posted August 7, 2022 Author Posted August 7, 2022 There is very little element of pastiche. For instance the introduction of title was so innovative. The theatre experience would have been something.

Vikram is an over-rated inspiration from BB+Narcos with elevated heroisms for Kamal. Second half is headache inducing. Complete violence fest in second half. Kaithi>>>>>>>>>>>> Vikram. I never expected a scene like this mainstream cinema. Could not have put it better. This is maximalist cinema. And a genre of it's own. And with a fan-base of it's own. BTW, it is not even in the top 10 telugu films ever for me. But I am a fan. That is quite mysterious.

For every industry the fan base of top heroes is the connection to masses. I think bollywood has no such heroes now. It has completely become insulated from tastes of audience in interiors of the country. The excellence is still there, but not of required flavour.
Ankit_sharma03 Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Rajamouli's weakest film ( i havent seen his earlier ones )
