Afghanistan are "Real" Tailunt

War torn nation. No infrastructure. Next to no future. No cricket administration. But some amazingly raw talent and lion hearted spirit. It's quite a miracle to be honest to see them compete. I don't recall any nation in dire straits competing in cricket. In other sports, its still possible such as in football or athletics. But cricket requires some degree of grooming. Don't know how these guys even get the required kits or sponsors. 

 

Amazing story. Love all these Afghans and their spirit. Another thing. What great ambassadors for their nation. Never heard any news or I'll timed comment.

You are comparing the top most athletes in Afghanistan to the regular Indian population. Not a fair comparison.

AFG has a bunch of highly skilled and mentally tough cricketers … If the batting clicks, I won’t be surprised if it wins the Asia Cup!

Afghan needs 1 more real good fast bowler and a proper non-hack batsman and they will be a force.

 

also their fielding is still a little minnow-low tier level especially under pressure.

 

having said that they bring in a lot of flair.

 

they remind me a little of the current gen Westindies. Mercurial match winners but have some missing links to go to the next level.

 

they are better than current SL and Bang. That’s what makes them stand  out

Srilanka also did very well in all formats.It is only recently they have experienced some lull. Afghanistan is doing well in t20s but I don't think they have enough batsmen who know how to build innings for longer formats.

Think SL has declined more than anything. they have no batsmen to replace Sanga and Mahela

It's not just the height..Indian players are mostly lanky...if tall..only dhoni had some meat in him...Kohli is fit but he is slim ...but let's not get into physicality of the players...let's celebrate Afghanistan cricket.

Let's wait till they bat 1st in a game.  UAE conditions heavily favour the team batting 2nd.   Even HK looked a better team than they really are when they batted 2nd.

Yes, He is fighting for his spot in WC squad after a long layover. Clearly there are 2 or 3 ahead of him. It is the selectors, coach and captain’s call to drop him.

Your comment is a disservice to Sri Lanka. They've competed really well against top level teams despite having a much smaller population compared to their competition.

Afghans are now seriously doing well than Srilanka.. I want Srilanka to regain their glory.. get rid of board politics and increase their standards.. nobody would want SL cricket to rot..imagine if Indian team was struggling like Srilanka.. we would have written obituaries everyday

they are real fighters. gave the brits and the soviets a lot of trouble in the 19th and 20th centuries when these nations tried to invade

As predicted, the Afghan bowling got badly exposed while defending 175 vs SL.   Much like the Indian bowling.     UAE conditions are NOT conducive to Fair Play.    Win the toss , Win the matches. (Not talking of minnows).   The trend continues...........  Hopefully, ICC looks into it  and ensures there are no T20 WCs henceforth.    Don't give a damn to Asia Cup which is arranged by ACC.
