People calling out IPL is justified..Nothing against Bumrah and feel for him due to his Back injury but Indian cricketers never miss out a single match in IPL,they play matches even when they are almost out of Playoff Race...For ex, Bumrah was playing useless matches for MI even when they were knocked out. Main Indian players are always rested in International series following IPL.. These guys rest for 2 matches in 5 matches series but play full Ipl and cry for workload management.. Look Starc, him being injury prone always keeps him away for IPL just so he can remain fit for International matches..

IPL is an Indian international league and is of much higher preference than International T20s.

IPL is an Indian Domestic League where foreign players are allowed to participate in Iimited numbers per team.  Just like FDI.  IPL was introduced with the purpose of improving indian T20 cricket.  Allowing key Indian pace bowlers to play IPL at the cost of crucial ICC tournaments was never the goal of bcci.  But as thing stand, that is where we are heading. Unfortunately.

"Indian International League" What does it even mean.

is PSL Pakistan International league and CPL Caribbean International league

:canabis:

They are domestic leagues and stands nowhere in comparison to IPL. IPL is like English Premier league. IPL is one of the biggest leagues in the world and competing with other big leagues of other sports in the world. Other domestic t20 leagues pale in comparison. IPL is no more just a domestic league. It's the most important part of international cricket now.

Who told you IPL was started to improve Indian T20 cricket? IPL's main goal was to create a league like other international sports like football and baseball had and spread its reach, create wealth like other sports.

Nope, the goal was singular

Genuine or attention seeking ?

If it is fracture, no … Anyways, Bumrah’s inclusion or non-inclusion does not change things much in the grand scheme as I don’t expect Bumrah to be consistent (we saw that in IPL too where he was more off than on).

Also for Bumrah to be more effective, the bowling attack would need guys like Moshin, Umran, etc. around.

Yes, IPL is one of the top multi-team T20 tournaments. Probably sits just below the ICC world cups.

Only PTI has tweeted, there is no official word from BCCI that BUmrah is out of the WC squad. Here they say he’s under medical supervision

BCCI hardly gives statement so directly, I think they didn't even shared for Jadeja's injury as well.

They will have to this time as the squad is announced, if they change it, then it has to give a reason as well.

A BCCI official has said (“unofficially”) that Bumrah has a stress fracture.

PTI, however, reported on Thursday that the fast bowler would miss the T20 World Cup, quoting a BCCI official who said Bumrah could be out of action for months. "Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition," the BCCI official told PTI. "It's a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months."”

So unless we get a contradictory report/update, the assumption (including planing for the way forward) would be that Bumrah is out.

Too much misinformation being spread. Not that difficult to do a Google search in the time one would post such “assumptions”.

Teams can make changes up to Oct 9th without needing ICC’s permission. Even non injured players can be replaced.

Fair enough, Even that has not been done yet. They have not yet announced him being dropped out except PTI tweeting a source. They are still observing him. Maybe hoping he’d recover in a month. The fracture is not yet been confirmed officially and we have a 11-pager thread discussing all with “assumptions “.

The thread title says - “Bumrah ruled out of world cup : PTI”

The discussion is based on news provided by PTI, which has spoken with an BCCI official as already mentioned.

For planning purpose, Bumrah is out (unless some contradictory information/update is available).

Though I don’t think that Bumrah’s availability or unavailability changes Ind’s bowling prospect much in the grand scheme of things given the rest of the bowling and Bumrah’s inconsistencies.

It is just that because India has a trundling line up, people were thinking that at least the team has one bowler can bowl quick (and do well at the death) but now he is likely gone too (but from a big picture PoV, you need a better bowling attack for Bumrah to make the desired impact more often than not).
