How do you rate India chances in the T20WC22?

While India could have had a more optimized squad, it is still competitive esp. with respect to other teams in Group 2. India can afford to lose a game and still go to the knockouts based on NRR (if it loses two, then it could depend on various permutations & combinations like x beating y and so on, along with NRR). 

 

On paper, India looks good to get into the knockouts, where anything could happen, including winning the title. How far do you think Ind will go?

• 10/23 v Pak at MCG
• 10/27 v Group A Runner Up at SCG
• 10/30 v SA at Perth
• 11/02 v BD at Adelaide Oval 
• 11/06 v Group B Winner at MCG

If Bumrah was fit I would have been confidant about a SF spot atleast as our batting is in fine shape and the team does well in Australia. 

 

Right now our bowling (& fielding) is in a mess. But still think we are a better team than Pak in Aus and will make it through to the semis and then lose to Aus.

Fair assessment ... Do you have any preference wrt the playing 11 (from those in the squad)?

Pakistan, West Indies and Bangladesh aren't that big of a challenge in Australian conditions .. especially for our batting which was the reason why we failed in the UAE world Cup. And of course, toss won't be that big of a factor too. 

 

We will make the semifinal and then it's anyone's game on a given day. 

 

But i gotta say, I have a certain good feeling this year. We'll wait and see.

Not confident on the Pak game but we should be able to defeat SA.

Being Indian fans we talk about our weaknesses but truth is no team in this format is perfect.

Australia has Marsh's rustiness, Maxwell and Finch's poor form, Stoinis's injury to worry about. Their close to full-strength attack conceded runs against India every match.

 

England don't even know what their final XI will be. With Livingstone's fitness in concern they may not even be able to finalize 4-5 spots in the XI.

 

South African attack doesn't look great in death either. Rabada was hit by Surya easily and then DK hit him for 16 runs in an over. Yesterday even Shardul took him apart. And they will open batting with Bavuma. 

 

I haven't followed Newzealand lately but they were facing issues in batting in Australia.

 

So all in all no team can say they are perfect. 

So overall I would say in India-Aus clash, Aus are slightly favorites.

India-Eng both are equally matched.

In rest of the games we are favorites.

So far Ind has not won in the year of soccer world cups - 2010 & 2014. In fact, there has been disappointment despite making it to the final in 2014 … Therefore, something to keep in mind.
 

The Soccer World Cup begins in Qatar in Nov.

I want to check their bowlers numbers specially starc and cummins. We are worried about ours but cummins has also leaked at 11.75 at death this year

Starc numbers arent that good in last 2 yrs

Loosing archer is as big a blow for them as bumrah for us  

They also dont know where to bat stokes which ideally shud be top 4 

Jordon has always been inconsistent and woakes hasnt been a good t20 bowler 

Wood death numbers are also not great 

Butler captaincy hasnt looked good either till now

NZ dont enjoy australian conditions much also they dont have many X factor players

Many posters hv stated that no team in this format is perfect.   I kind of agree with their views.

 

But as far as Team India is concerned, it is Perfectly Imperfect

South Africa are hands down the strongest team in the group. It'll be tougher against them than against Poyzz, as latter are usually pathetic in Australia.

Yup. Never felt more confident about an absolute disaster as this time. Batting is iffy at best and bowling is a surefire disaster.

Not sure about the overall mood of the posters on ICF.  But as far as my friends, relatives and colleagues etc are concerned, they hv already given up.  Most of them hv lowered their expectation to such level that even a SF berth would look like a moral victory to them.

My assemsment. India lack match winners with the ball. 
A good shaheen or Naseem opening spell could finish the game itself. India have gone for a more steady bowling lineup.

pakistan will attack with the ball and india with the bat, will be a fascinating contest.

If we win on the 23rd I expect the team to perk up and go on a run even defeating SA.

If they lose on 23rd I think it is lights out time, don't think they will have it in them to bounce back.
