Let him perform in at least one bilateral series first.

He did perform in a high scoring series in Ireland, which is good playing at its home (WA beat Ind recently at its home), winning India a game that went into the last over.

Even in the first warm up in Eng, he looked the most threatening bowler. Was removed once Rohit came back.

I hate the current trundlers too but two wrongs don't make it right..

I am all for giving him consistent chances in bilaterals. But it's ludicrous to put him directly into the WC squad. Let him perform in at least one bilateral series first. That's my point.

Most people here wanted him to be in every bilaterals before WC,if you dont want the trundlers which are anyway one too many, who would you add there besides Siraj,i will have my last recommendation as Umran,Sen before him who is more ready

Preaching to choir. Reams written by multiple posters saying the same over the past few months.

Nerves of international cricket are a different beast altogether and then our team management which is hardly encouraging high pace. In IPL, fast bowlers do faster because they are encouraged to bowl fast.

How can Pakistani fast bowlers always pull this off?

most of the countries outside of India are generally very relaxed about player evolution. Indians esp in cricket think it’s some great science ( but based on their self concepts) they don’t apply science ( or the precursor data) to back their decisions.

Depends on Team culture. Listen to Pakistani commentators and they are always talking about pace and encouraging high pace. Same with Australian, West Indian and South African commentators.

While Indian commentators are largely oblivious about this aspect when Bumrah, Shami or Siraj are bowling quick.

Akram and Younis kept on praising Hardik's pace of 140 to 145 k in the Asia Cup while Indian commentators did not even mention it. Akram seemed very disappointed that India had left out all their quicker pacers in the Asia Cup and was angry that Avesh was not trying to bowl at his quickest. Kept on asking about Umran.

But did you hear any Indian commentator say anything similar ?  Shastri always changed the topic when Akram tried to talk about India leaving out its quicker bowlers.

In the Indian cricket fraternity, only a few players like Kohli, Ganguly, Tendulkar,  Hardik, Ashwin, Gambhir, Harbhajan etc.are passionate about quick bowling.

Most others encourage only safe line and length bowling and do not care about pace.

So, you know which direction a young Indian pacer will take in order ro survive in Team India . (  exceptions being captains Kohli, Ganguly and in IPL, Gambhir and now Hardik )

In absolute meaningless useless and insignificant bilateral ODI series in India, we could have played 6 or 7 bowlers and he could have easily have been in the team ahead of the walking wicket that is Dhawan, captaincy could and should have been groomed for Gill too.

This way you are killing multiple birds with one stone.

In Australia its a cultural thing, you grew up with everyone wanting to be a fast bowler, all summer you would hear the commentators talk about the pace of bowlers.

Go through youtube highlights of Lee, Johnson, Tait, Starc in Australia and see how the Aussie commentators fire up, not to mention Shoaib was bowling here along with Steyn and Bond and Boult at their peak.

In India we have Boobi's and Charhar with gentle pace bowling. Admittedly that changed so much when Bumrah came to Australia.

Vast difference.

Below is Tait hitting close to 160kmhr, compare that to our Boobi's gentle at 130kmhr.

Mindset difference not to mention these Indian commies mostly have ridiculously low IQ's.  I don't need to get into those running sports in the country.  They have a 60's 70's mindset from the outset.

Anyone that has ever played gully cricket in India know that bowling is considered as slave labour. Every kid wants to bat, hardly anyone wants to bowl. The bowling culture is just not there in India.

Australians were so excited when Bumrah bowled 150 k+ on our Australian tour of 2018/19.  Ex players like Lee and Clark kept talking about his high quality genuine fast bowling for more than a year.

And when we toured in 2020/21, Border was really excited about the Bumrah / Shami duo's pace and skills.

And I remember how impressed most of them were with young Kartik Tyagi. They wanted him in the Gabba test. McGrath kept saying that he was hoping that Tyagi will get his test debut. Because they were impressed with his pace, bounce snd aggression in the practice matches.

They love fast bowling irrespective of the country of the player.

It's changed a lot in the last few years after Bumrah and Shami.

If you check the Insta posts of young Indian pace bowlers, so many want to bowl 150 k and be fit.

Very smart from Modi to keep him out ... if this man played in India vs Pak he would defect before a ball was bowled ... major embarrassment for India.

Lol if we open our borders half of your country will defect to India. No one wants to live in a failed, crumbling nation like Pakistan.

My apologies I delved into politics on a cricket forum  and have deleted my original comment, but ahhhh .... I got to say in response to your comment the defecting will go the other way.

Speed kills.

When you combine speed with deception, guile and variety you are intimidating to the opposition before they come to the crease.

That's not entirely true...  Genuine fast bowlers don't come usually from metro cities.  Also that Fast howling doesn't requires a proper gear in the first place is just about raw talent.

Emergence of Umran & Kuldeep suggests the same.  There are many more examples.

This 60's logic is also due to likes of Gavaskars & Manjrekars or Bhogle.

If that happens, it will be great for the rest of us in India.

Fact:Steyn Bhishop Akram Lee  McGrath Yonis are more excited about new crop Indian fast bowlers like  Tyagi Sen moshin Umran lol than any of our own.

no wonder their respective countries nurture fast bowlers better.

2014 to 2020 was an abberation looks like we will be back to square one. With good boy Dravid sir Wall Sir; medium pace greatest line and length only when medium Chetan sir and angry only in face Mohanty da.
