Third time in his career he plays T20 Wc without playing any game in Build up to Wc

Optus is about new ball wkts and if u dont get that well its trouble 

 

Hope he finally comes good in the format in his 3rd and final chance .

Siraj would have been better right now but Shami is fully capable of performing in Aus, has done it before. However a big question mark remains on his form. Anyways I would still prefer him over Hashal.

When actually?  All I remember is he got smashed in Australia in 2020 LOIs..

shami has played 1 t20 in Aus and he got bashed at 11 eco

Those games were on slower tracks in Sydney and Canberra IIRC.

Well I was thinking about the '15 WC lol. He did dominate in the NZ 2019 white ball tour though. He has capabilities but his biggest issues are form and fitness.

Sydney was typical flat pitch...  200+ were getting chased & was a 350+ in ODIs. 

His bowling in Canberra even to Tailenders like Agar & Zampa was rubbish.  Bowling high full tosses too. 

Overall he is a bad package in T20s...  With no cricket behind him is a total random pick.

my guess is how they ll go about selection 

 

1. Harshal plays in MCG since bigger boundaries can help him and at MCG ball does stop n come too
2. 2nd game in sydney they might play shami depending on opposition or how harshal bowls in his 1st game
3. Perth - shami high chance will play since Optus is about new ball wkts and SA has issues in terms of depth so new ball wkts can end their game

Umesh Yadav was also gun in that WC.  Remember his fast spell vs Pak & a double wicket over in Adelaide. 

But can't go on past reputation.  2015 was 7 years ago.

Yeah that's why I am sceptical too. The Indian team runs on seniority culture, just like our govt jobs.

Harshal will not play except if Shami does real bad in first game. 

Arshdeep & Bhuvi are not going anywhere. 

MCG is expected to be under cloud cover for 1st game with a bit of rain around...  And MCG has become really fast in last 2 years.

format diff, shami is gun ODI bowler but ODI and t20 are diff formats 

actually forgetting format now , current biggest problem is he hasnt played for 3 months . This is like setting someone to fail , playing after 3 months that too in his weakest format

I am not quite angered about this one. I was anyway sure that he going to be the pick. 

His fitness is assessed by professionals and he is declared fit so nothing to worry on that front. He has experience of touring Australia multiple times and played big tournaments like WC2015 there. Should bowl 4 overs in both warm ups.

I get a feeling Rohit and Dravid don't want to throw in inexperienced bowlers there and there is a lot of rebuilding to follow post this WC. So let them play this one how they want.
