I am checking out a few cams of Melbourne. No rain infact sunny. Predictions were of rain in afternoon and evening.Wrong predictions so far.Sydney is also cloudy but no rain.

Wrong.

Rain predicted up to 8mm on Sunday and in particular afternoon and evening.

With very heavy rain predicted on Monday, Sunday's game will be washed out most likely.

All i am saying is that there was rain predicted today. It hasn't rained. It might get washed out on Sunday but the predictions are not always accurate

Its not a great time in terms of weather.

There will be games that are shortened or abandoned.

Should have been held in December.

Exactly.  Or they should have chosen a different Venue

That India vs South Africa game in Perth becomes mighty more important now that this game is all set to be washed out. Pak are hella lucky that their game against SAF is at the SCG. But even then it won't be easy for them..

My gut says, South Africa will beat both teams. And then it all will come down to how well India/Pakistan play against Bangladesh/Netherlands/Scotland and their margin of wins.

India usually thumps minnows badly...  Pakistan has a habit of taking it close..  So we do have a edge there.

Critical would be how well both teams do vs SA.

Didn't MCG had a roof or something earlier? i remember watching a game in closed roof long time ago.

That's the Docklands stadium. Very close to the mcg.

With our bowling , even minnow teams can easily score 150+. Pak bowling can easily restrict them to 110 and win big. Our batting needs to fire on cylinders in every game..

Boobie Koomar is a legend vs minnows...  Shami too can knock these guys over.  Axar etc too are known minnow bashers.

Even Chahal sometimes.

Barring Zimbabwe I don't see minnows putting up much fight.

Even BD didn't pick our nemesis midget Mushfiq

India has a lot of MCG veterans. Rohit, Kohli, Ashwin. Played substantial number of matches here.  Babar's couple of outings here is very average.

I will call Binny right away. [sorry, I assume everybody knows Hindi here]

lol. Thanks that was funny.

Yes your correct in believing that, however this Indian was born in Australia and raised here, I wasnt taught Hindi as my parents wanted me to assimilate into Australia and therefore teaching me English only.

Hi @express bowling you always are kind to give me info all the time whenever I ask, many times its obvious and simple info that an Indian in India would know, but I appreciate you always helping me out. Its why I share your enthusiasm with you about upcoming fast bowlers from India, its contagious and gets me excited.

I dont mind admitting I miss the old days of Indian cricket, of SRT, Ganguly,Dravid,Laxman, Kumble, Bhajji but you providing me all the latest info helps me accept the new talent that we have like Pant, Gill, Bumrah etc etc over the years.

Anyways long rant, the above link is from FoxSports, keep the www.foxsports.com.au link as it provides good coverage of the WC in Australia for all teams.

Forecast getting much better - afternoon and early evening is no rain in Melbourne on Sunday but the match starts at 7 pm (figures)..... there are some showers after 8 thru midnight - but the match should happen.

If the match was afternoon-evening, it would be fine.

The forecast seems to be improving though on both wunderground and weather channel.

I think they should not start at specific time. They should reserve the whole day for that match.  If it is day time so be it.

Absolutely - especially given the forecast for the evening. But these days the damn life is run by TV and media.

Even the showers have a rainfall total per hour of 0,01 inch after 8 pm - so a passing shower and the game should happen/conclude. But I agree with you - why take the risk?
