Sir Don Pandya needs to be groomed for LOI captaincy

Pandya is a better choice than rest for captaincy in LOIs. But he needs to be playing all ODI matches from now.

In T20s, he is India's MVP but until he becomes India's MVP in ODIs, he won't be rated among the best A/R in the world.

In Tests, he is a nobody and he seems to have accepted that.

Why? What has he done now? He is captain because of TINA.

One eyed kind amongst the blind.
Kohli won't be captain anymore, Rohit looks done in ODIS.
There are no other players who have performed like Rohit,Kohli did in their peak years, so baiscally the choice is Panyd.

How many matches has Pandya won for India in t20s against full strength sides?
Our MVP in t20s is Surya

In recent times, won us the only match we won in Asia Cup vs a good side.

In World T20, played a key role in winning the match vs Pakistan with bowl and bat and scored runs at good S/R vs England. These are all major teams.

In T20, he is definitely a MVP. Surya is also up there but he hasn't performed as much in big games yet as Pandya has. Surya is more exciting to watch and someone opposition would fear more when it comes to batting purely.

If you are talking about The first match vs Pak in wt20, then Pandyas 40(36) was nothing more than a bad innings, Karthik could have done the same if he had to.

Pandyas inning could havr lost us the match if not for Kohlis superhuman efforts.

So in wt20, he failed vs Pak with the bat, vs Sa with both bat and ball and did well only vs Eng in the whole world cup.

That match against Pakistan, Kohli saved his arse. Both he and kohli were struggling but kohli managed to break through. Pandya himself said this in one of the interviews after the match.

Yes but don't forget his performance with the bowl, he ended with almost similar figures as Arshdeep. And with bat, it can be counted as support role knock.

Almost a perfect path to LOI captaincy for Sir Don:

T20 Captain

ODI VC (could become the captain in a few months)

This will allow him to ease into the captaincy role while fine tuning his captaincy skills, which will keep getting better!
