His T20 exclusion is justified but Pant is a matchwinner in ODIs. To sideline him for the insipid Rahul is a crime! I thought Dravid was an upfront, decent guy but he is clearly playing games by promoting the Rahul as a WK absurdity. I hope he gets shown the door and real soon.

you are being a bit generous :) I consider a typically s**t team from our bunch of "selectors". I would not trust them to even pick a kindergarten XI

 

1. No Pant (as you wrote) --> good way to destroy his confidence, and then remove him from test team after a few failures.

2. Arshdeep is not appropriate for ODIs, as you mentioned.

3. Absence of Prasidh is very concerning. Is he not going to be recovered, assuming he has injury?

4. Selection of seniors for this low-profile series is stupid, especially Rohit, Kela, and Brat

5. Mohd Shami is past the hill, and should mostly be preserved for marquee test and ODI series

6. axar patel is too 1D even in home conditions. someone like shahbaz (or even mulani) offers more with bat.

I could go on, but will stop here.

Good.   Should hv also been dropped from odi squad.    That one inning of 70 odd vs toygers in 1st odi might give us more long term problems.

Gill and Ruturaj picked so one of them will open. If you want aggressive player, why not go with a Shaw? Will they open with Samson? Not likely.
