Am I the only one reluctant to watch India when KL is in the playing XI ? Averages less than 35 in 45 tests. Is he Brijesh Patel’s karnataka quota guy ?

Looks like KL's goose is cooked finally... for a little while at least. No way TM can afford to play him after yet another failure.

Close but no cigar.

Rahul Dravid backs under-fire opener KL Rahul after poor showing in Delhi Test: He's got the class and quality

Story by India Today Web Desk  32m ago

India head coach Rahul Dravid has come to under-fire opener KL Rahul's defense, saying he has got the class and quality to play for Team India. Rahul struggled against Australia, scoring 18 runs in two innings as India beat the visitors by 6 wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Speaking after the match, Dravid said things have not been going well for Rahul, but when he he gets back in form, he has got the class and quality.

"Sometime when things are not going for you, these things happen. But on another day when it starts happening, he has got the class and quality," said Dravid.

The former India batter said it has been great working with these group of players, adding that he does not need to teach the Indian player about technique when they have played 100 Test matches themselves.

"It's been great working with this group. Managing the squads around all the formats is probably the toughest thing as a coach. But it's not a lot of technical coaching, you can't be teaching guys who have played 100 Test matches," Dravid added.

Rahul's poor form continued as the batter once again got out cheaply in the final innings of the 2nd Test match at New Delhi. Playing at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, despite the lack of scoreboard pressure, KL Rahul got dismissed for just 1 run at the hands of off-spinner Nathan Lyon.

This was the second time in the ongoing Test match that Rahul was dismissed by Lyon. In the first innings the right-hander had been trapped in front of the wickets.

In the opening Test match of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rahul was trapped caught and bowled by debutant Todd Murphy. Rahul's place was questioned in the pre-match press conference where batting coach Vikram Rathour defended his place in the team.

And also Hitman saying they are happy with him and won't make any changes.

Actually inn haramkhoro ki charbi moti ho gayi hai on the back of Jadeja, Ashwin and Axar's performance. These @$$ holes has given entire responsibilities (batting, bowlin and fielding) to ash, jaddu and Axar and other players are part of extended coaching staff as most of the time they just watch ash, jaddu and Axar slogging their asses to reduce run deficit.

Why abuse only only Dravid? Here’s what Rohit has said:

https://www.crictracker.com/cricket-news/border-gavaskar-trophy-rohit-sharma-and-rahul-dravid-back-kl-rahul-despite-his-batting-struggles/

The 35-year-old stated that KL Rahul though might be struggling now, still has massive potential in him to bounce back whenever the team needed him. And most importantly, KL has delivered for the team in the most crunch situations and on the toughest of wickets.

“Batting at Lord’s on a damp wicket, it was one of the best hundreds I have seen, Centurion also, so he has potential and we are backing him," Rohit stated.

They are backing him because he got classy 100s in Eng and SA and still has potential. It’s like journalists back RaGa because he has potential. At least Kela has some scores to show

This type of backing of wrong players is the reason why we are failing at icc and big matches. In india these mistakes had been overshadowed due to some other player contributions but not in overseas and in crunch matches where margin of error is minimal.

I don't mind Rohit sharma or Dravid backing Rahul but he needs to be dropped now to make way for Gill in the next two tests.  Rahul can be in the sidelines or go back to domestics.  He deserves to be dropped now even if we back him in the long term. It is unfair for Gill to be not in the team given his recent form.

He needs to be dropped completely. It is unfair to so many people performing in domestic cricket to have a guy with such mediocre results get to play almost 50 Tests. These guys (Rohit Sharma, Dravid and all) keep reminding us of those few innings in SENA, but overall KL still has a poor record in SENA too. Avg in Aus is 20, in Eng its 34 and in SA it is 25. So beyond those 2-3 innings there, he hasn't done anything of note. It is not like KL is a beast in SENA so we have to tolerate him elsewhere. He is mostly just average everywhere with occasional brilliant innings. Can't keep waiting on when the next one will come up. Let him work on his game by going through the rigors of domestic cricket.

Of course Dravid and Rohit are not going to come out in the media and say they are going to drop Rahul for the next Test.

The team management didn't do that when they decided to drop Rahane either. What they say in public is probably not what they are mulling about within the group. I am sure they are seeing the same things all of us are seeing and hearing from the outside about Rahul's performances.
