Kyle Jamieson was one of the surprising picks for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2023 Auctions. Since he failed to do well in his IPL stint with RCB, many were not confident of this signing. However, as per reports, the player is now set to be out of action for a few months due to injury. On that note, in this article, we take a look at four players CSK can sign as a replacement for Kyle Jamieson for IPL 2023.

CSK has a strong requirement for a bowler who can do well at the death. A good medium-pace bowling all-rounder who can bat in the lower middle order can also be a decent fit. The management will consider these factors while deciding on who must replace Jamieson for IPL 2023.

1) Dasun Shanaka

Dasun Shanaka is one of the players CSK can sign as a replacement for Kyle Jamieson for IPL 2023. It was surprising that no team looked at Dasun Shanaka at IPL 2023 Auctions. He is a quality finisher and has done well on Indian pitches. CSK could need an option in the lower middle order and since Shanaka can also bowl a bit, he would be a decent fit for the franchise. Especially when the team goes out of Chennai, Shanaka can be a useful player in the XI.

2) Wayne Parnell

Wayne Parnell is an experienced cricketer and would be a great fit for the franchise. At the moment, though, he is injured. If he is fit by IPL 2023, CSK can target the player. Parnell mostly bowls in the beginning but has shown decent skills in the middle and at the death, too. Like Jamieson, he is also decent with the bat. Hence, MS Dhoni could favour such a player.

 

3) Lance Morris

Lance Morris is also one of the players CSK can sign as a replacement for Kyle Jamieson for IPL 2023. The speedster from Australia has had a good domestic season and would be an exciting pick for CSK. Since not many Indian batters have faced him, he would also bring in an element of surprise.

4) Gerald Coetzee

It is inevitable that CSK would look at Coetzee from the Joburg Super Kings in SA20. The speedster had an impressive season and left many surprised with his face. Since he has already played under the same management, CSK would be very much inclined to having the player on board. The experience here would also help the player in SA20.

If Dhoni is planning to keep wkts this season then yes Parnell and Shanaka

Shanaka is quality, hopefully gets a shot. 

 

I think CSK fans better start preparing for a few years of irrelevancy.

With Shanaka, CSK can play some 5-6 all rounders in their XI - Stokes, Moeen, Shanaka, Jadeja, Dube.. Chahar and Pretorius can be a handful with the bat as well

Stokes may not be available for the full IPL due to his commitment to tests so CSK would need to factor that in as well.

shanaka can be just as impactful as stokes in t20s in indian pitches if selected and given room to prosper

Replacement can come anytime. There are no last dates for injury replacement.
