The Realist
Nobody is retiring when there is so much easy money to be made. Will still be playing in their 40s. vvvslaxman and express bowling 1
zen
IPL needs 180-250 cricketers annually. Of that, around 70-80 would be overseas players. That leaves 100-180 slots for Indian players. A country would typically produce: 8-10 competitive bowlers 8-10 competitive batsmen 3-5 good wicket-keepers As long as an Indian cricketer remains in the top 50-100 Indian cricketers, he does not necessarily need to worry about retiring from IPL. In fact, internationally retired but still in good shape cricketers can work in IPL as they are more focused and connected to a franchise. It is only when they go seriously downhill that they are phased out. Edited April 12, 2023 by zen
Chakdephatte
Warner will get dropped and will have to retire. Others can play as long as their franchises are ready to keep them. Rayudu maybe retire for third time.
maniac
I see most new batch of commentators Pathan Bros, Raina, Uthappa etc were playing till a year or so ago. So probably no new slots so at least 5 more years for the current batch of oldies before they get campus recruitment.

Luckily for him very few marquee names in Telugu commentary. So readymade job. Don’t think with his anger issues he will be in coaching or administration. nevada

Why retire lol MSD faces an average of 10 balls per match. He is just keeping for 12 or 13 matches which can be replaced by someone. He is sure fitter than Magala/Chahal. It is not that hard to stay relevant in IPL. Look at Bawla, Mishra.
