Why aren’t Indian batting “allrounders” bowling?

The pace bowler - batsman AR spot is now exclusively Pandya's.

Venky, Dube bowling - I think their respective TMs just don't have enough confidence in their bowling and now with the impact player rule, the teams don't find it necessary to bowl these guys.

Personally, I am disappointed as I would like to see someone competing with Pandya for that spot.

That impact rule will destroy Indian cricket . There will be no incentive to become an allrounder.

good allrounders will still shine. This eliminates bits and pieces guys

Because IPL teams would have better bowling options!

IPL teams are NOT playing players so they can practise or impress selectors of other teams including Team India. Many times, players are given different roles than they are used to elsewhere. Being selected by some other team based on IPL performances is a byproduct of IPL not the goal of IPL teams (Many teams even don’t like if a player has to leave due to other commitments).

Most of the confusion among many fans during IPL can be spotted by following statements:

* Why does he bat at this position when he bats at that position for Team India

* Why does he bowl at this phase, when he bowls at that phase for Team India

* Why does the franchise not try this player as he can get into Team India (as if franchise’s job is to play players so they can play for some other team. Many times, a player would look to perform well at international level hoping to be picked up by an IPL team esp. if an auction is around the corner)

* and so on

Impact players have completely sidelined the "batting allrounders" or batters who can bowl a bit.

Abhishek Sharma was regularly bowling 4 overs in SMAT and 7-8 overs in VHT and here he has not even touched the ball, same goes for Samad, Venkatesh, Tewatia, Shankar dada and Parag. Jaiswal is not bowling much these days even in domestics (weird because he has more potential with ball than Samad or Parag)..only Nitish Rana is bowling at times based on the conditions.

Bowling allrounders still have hope...but they need to work on their primary skill first. Arjun Tendulkar looks average in both skills, Yudhvir and Hangargekar did well with ball but they need some backing from mgmt. Shardul did well in couple of games...Deepak Chahar is out anyway.

That's why impact rule is not good. Bits and pieces guys can improve their bowling if they get more chances to bowl. Yes, it is IPL and you plan to win the trophy but the tournament is long enough to try different stuffs and hence if they guys like V Iyer or Jaiswal or Hooda could bowl more, it will improve their weaker suit and also gives more flexibility when it comes to selection to Indian team.

Tewatia really should have been bowling more given that he used to bowl like 3-4 overs for RR regularly back around 2020.
