English media would likely grill these guys badly but England was never favorite to win with or without BazBall.

They still have series victories in SL (twice) SA (twice)  and Pak...  With a drawn series in NZ.

Apart from India & Aus there record ain't that bad.

They need to sort out these home defeats.

In feel they could be competitive in India this time...  Hopefully only one among Kohli Rohit Rahane are playing tho:fear1:

Brat is certainly playing, RGS too if he's not retired. Rahane is unlikely to play unless he scores tons in SA, but we really need at least 3-4 youngsters probably including Pant. We'll only really lose if we make lottery pitches, helpful surfaces are fine but don't *ing overdo it!

If these three are playing England have a legit shot at series victory...  I can see Liam Dawson & leach owning these oldies badly..  We can't afford to carry 3 passangers.  I think Rohit could be first to go...  If we end up losing in SA.

Same Aussies couldn't dedend 329 against us and couldn't enforce a win at the SCG.

yes  that is one series they failed as they got over worked , how many other series did they fail?

Indians failed to defend two test in SAs, they were not even close.

Indian bowlers took only two wickets. Aussies atleast took more wickets in both Sydney and Gabba.

Yea.. But we shouldn't forget INdian top order went missing in both innings. In fact failed 4 innins in a row in WTC final.  Khawaja and Smith stepped up for them.

A total like 500 would have been in our comfort zone. And also Bumrah as a captain was stupid choice.

Rohit is the better one. Atleast scoring at home.

Pitch was so good that Bumrah scored 29 runs in one over of Broad.

How can 500 be enough when they just took 3 wickets defending  378?

What has WTC  got to do with that bowling performance.Bowlers got more than ernough runs to defend. They did not even make it close, England won in a canter.

Bowling was poor. But given the lead India got India should have taken a much bigger lead and removed loss out of the equation something our batting failed to do. Second of all, Bairstow was dropped by Vihari when he was mere 17.  Third of all bowling rotation of Bumrah in England,  bowling rotation of KL Rahul in SA was downright mediocre. Strategically we were poor. A better captain would have defended it well. Having said that , batting failure is equally reponsible. The only reason we were even alive in that test was due to Pant/Jaddu partnership. We cannot deny that.

That was the effect of not selecting 2nd spinner. They needed spin to control the run flow.
