This is a brown flat patta. A typical sub continent wicket with hardly any assistance for fast bowlers.   This sort of early declaration on day1 does not make sense. I can understand if Eng had done this against a minnow (such as Ind).  But against the WTC Champ, it is likely to backfire badly.

Shami should be used only in OZ and India. That's it. No other places. Umesh should be used only in India based on his form.  India needs taller bowlers. These short midget bowlers are easy to adjust against. Robinson's height gives him an advantage. Same with jansen, Jamieson who use their height very well.

Umesh should not be used even in India IMO -- he is old and losing steam quickly. we usually have raging turners, so 2 pacers are enough. it can be shami and some rando (can try newbies) because the spin trio/quartet will do the job more often than not.

overseas, we need prasidh, kuldeep sen, and rana along with boomer and siraj; last one needs more FC under the belt. tyagi is unfortunately too far down the queue.

once again i feel i was right. If lyon can take 4 wickets than Ashwin would have made an even bigger impact plus he can bat too.I  am fed with up Dravid .

Two completely different surfaces. Ashwin is a highly pitch dependent bowler.

England used Jo Root differently. Rajasthan used Root completely differently.

Yes, England uses Root differently because they don't play him in T20 cricket. With all those scoops, his SR was still in 60s for the most part while 150 is needed in T20. Format illiteracy at its best.

That is blatantly untrue. Also Ashwin constantly evolves. He has improved a lot since his injury and he stopped exprimenting.  If anything Oval is more helpful for spinners traditionally. Even there Jaddu turned some balls square. Last test at Indore had nothing for spinners.

Are you comparing England with Rajasthan Royals? lol  Some of the matches they just needed a mature hand with no real steepling run rate.

Chahal gets into the team under court jester quota!

England are overrated. Aussies aren't much better in reality either. India's lack of prep and poor selections cost them the match against Aussies. I believe Aussies will emerge victorious in the series 3-2. This England is beatable.

Won't be easy to bat today under clouds against likes of Anderson, Robinson and Broad.

As per latest weather reports, the sky is going to clear out in another 1 hr.  And is likely to be fully sunny with no chance of rain thereafter.
