We need a balanced attack. That's it.

Bumrah - complete bowler. Fast bouncy and accurate

Siraj - complete bowler - medium fast and can swing. Has nasty bouncer

Harshit - tall hit the deck bounce based bowler or Sen or tyagi

Last one for now will be undacutra who can swing and hit the deck hard but medium pacer. He can be replaced by hangerakr or bava depending on the pitch.

Siraj is pretty quick these days.  Regularly hits mid 140s.

Yes ... Bumrah, Siraj, Sen, Harshit and Prasidh should be our test pace bowling pool.  Choose 3 or 4 among them.

That is not true. Steyn bowled a high percentage of short balls .  In his entire career, only a couple of OZ quicks and Wagner have bowled a higher percentage.

Steyn was primarily a swing bowler at ggod pace who used surprise bounce very well and could bowl very fast when the pitch flattened out.

Remember Swamn chatting with Steyn ... and Swann said that he was worried about Steyn getting him out ... but it was Morkel whom he feared as far as getting hit on the body was concerned and not Steyn.

Most Indian sportspersons are mentally weak, not just a cricket problem. Very few exceptions like Neeraj, Sindhu, Sreejesh, Gambo etc. We are massively underachieving in sports just because we can't hold our **** together in crunch moments, big occasions.....

India now ranked 98 in football. Slowly getting there. In hockey too we are getting better and better. Won't be long. We just need to develop sports culture and encourage kids more often to play sport. Parents sadly in India still don't put much emphasis on athletic endeavours.

Also there is quota system which restricts the type of players we are allowed to draft in. People from lower ranked communities are generally tougher and mentally stronger. Should give more opportunities accordingly.

98 rank is hardly anything to boast about.

Hockey team choked in a home WC KO against NZ lmao. Ultimate choke after being 3-1 up with 10 minutes to go.

No. People from lower ranked communities make up our archery team and they are the worst chokers in Indian sporting community. When you look at their chokes the last decade even our cricketers will appear like mental beasts.

Ah ok. Well sports culture is prevalent in India. Do we actually see parents encouraging sports in India? Don't think so. There is no scholarships offered in universities for sports quotas etc. We don't have the infrastructure to compete either. It will take time. It's getting better. We were ranked 180 5 years back in football. So we are getting somewhere.

Sena teams just have better set ups in place for promoting sports. We have vast population but limited resources.

The athletic ability is there. We just don't have the sports culture and coaching support to raise to the next level. This will take time.

Like I said. Steyn was not only a swing bowler but could consistently bowl short stuff and take wickets when there was no swing

Check his spells vs WI in 2015 and against SL in 2014 (Galle) .

TThecore of this Indian team have achieved  more than they may have imagined,They have lost the hunger to win, score runs.

It seems they are just going through the motions and dont care about the results.

The weak selection commitee has been completely joke and they dont have any guts remove non performing seniors.

If players ie Rahane who was dropped, didnt do any thing in the Ranji Trophy,is made vice captain ,what message does it give .Now there are talks about Dhawan return to the team.

The team needs young dynamic players ,who have a future ,and hunger to succeed.

Even Bumrah, Siraj and Shami have all bowled short bsll barrages effectively in multiple matches. One can do that when one has sufficient pace.

But what I am talking about is bowlers who can do it day in day out because it is their bowling style. And such style is usually found in tall, hit the deck quicks.

We should search for the easier path to reach an end rather than look for exceptions.

Taller bowlers over 6'1 have natural bounce of good length. It's a lot easier to bend your back if you are taller as you don't need to strain your back as much.

It's not that aussie quicks are 'fitter'. They aren't. Our bowlers are extremely fit. It's just we have a higher workload especially when you factor in IPL. Our bowlers take IPL much more seriously than foreigners. It leads to fatigue. Their bowlers pick and choose matches they wish to play.

Our bowlers being shorter have to work much harder to generate natural bounce. They need to constantly hit back of length target zone to generate consistent bounce.

Taller quicks don't need to strain their body. We are making it hard for our bowlers tbf. Just need to pick a relevant support bowler who is tall and adds a new dimension. Can't have sameness in the attack.

Bumrah in conjunction with siraj who offera something different plus harshir or tyagi or prasidh it is.

Undercuta can be the 4th option for now.

Nominating Rahane as a vice captain on the basis of IPL and a scratchy innings in WTC final tells us all how short sighted these dimwits are. There is absolutely no planning whatsoever and they refuse to see into the future. There is no way India contests a test match or for that matter, any format similar to Aussies and England. BCCI can make claims of how many $$ they rake in but morally and competency wise they’re bankrupt. They’re failing to realize that they make money because they happen to be a board of a country with largest population; there is absolutely nothing they do that attracts the sponsors.

He's there possibly as a backup captain.

Agree with everything you wrote !  These are my points too.

Harshit Rana has batting ability.

If we can think of

7. Jadeja

8.  Harshit

9. Sen  / Prasidh

10. Bumrah

11. Siraj

in tests outside Asia, it will be lethal.

Over my dead body approach is distinctly missing from our side. Apart from spinning allrounders/Pant i don't see this quality from others. Siraj to some extent gives everything. Leander Paes is one guy i remember never giving up even against players who were completely out of his league. He bloody gave everything in each game. Especially in Davis cup.

You need to pick players with extreme hungar to succeed.

IPL has made average players rich, the hungar is not there.

Picking wealthy old millionaire players is recipe for disaster.

much harder to wake up and go to work when you sleep in silk clothes.

Mental ability/toughness came into discussion after Ind's early exit in the 2021 T20 wc. In my opinion  its overall cricketing ability of the TM and players.

In white ball-Since Yuvi and Raina left Ind was unable to find a decent 4,5,6. They have been winning on the backs of their top 3's performance. The day these top 3 failed Ind found it hard to even compete.

Even after hosting the biggest T20 league donot think Ind still gets what is T20 or may be the star culture is sure big that they donot allow proper t20 players in the Intnls.

Sky has to wait atleast 2 years to get into the team. They picked Hooda for whome they do-not even know where to play him. They have been playing with sub 135 SR batters in their top 6, neither they can take advantage of PP nor they can finish too strong.

All last 3/4 years they have been looking for a LAF bowler but still they are unable to find 1. Ind team clearly needs LH batters in top 4 but rt. now all they have are RHers.

Due to which they have to ask Jadeja or Axar to come into the middle order. A good bowling side in high stakes games will not let these batters to score freely.

Rather than blooding in new talent they are picking older refused players with no x-factor -Unadkat, Mavi, Mukesh Kumar.

And in Tests all the wins have came by the rescue jobs done by lower order batters. There has been no fixed openers, no 3 and 5 have been playing for so long with a average of sub 45.

There are other problems too (Pant's replacement no ready yet, fielding, leg spinner, bowlers cannot bat, batters cannot bowl ) but considering all these, more than mental weakness its cricketing abilities.
